Chapter 6 Full Of Threats
- "That's enough!" Anne roared with rage. All the reporters were taken aback by her sudden response. Anne was unmoved by all their absurd speculations as she was innocent. She scanned her surroundings and realized that most of the entertainment reporters from Acarnion are present.
- Seems like Jaiden is going all out on this!
- Anne sneered while stroking her long hair to one side with her fingers. "I don't give a damn about where you all received these rumors or who sent you all here. However, I will remember every slanderous word you said about me. Although my father is in trouble, the Lloyd family remains indefatigable. Even if the Lloyd family fails to press on, I am still the niece of Michael Miller! Are you all persistent with tainting me with all this nonsense?" Anne uttered.
- All the reporters were stunned. "Are you all talking about me?" Zeke's deep voice sounded from the entrance. His white casual wear was soaked in sweat as he returned from his morning workout. Anne grinned as she felt a sense of relief from the sight of Zeke.
- "Uncle Zeke!" Anne called out softly as she approached him. The reporters made way for Anne subconsciously as they watched her with widened eyes. Zeke reached out his hand and gently brushed the tip of her nose with his finger. "What have you gotten into this early in the morning? Are you in trouble again?" Zeke asked playfully.
- "Of course not. I was just staying for the night at this hotel. These reporters came out of nowhere and claimed that I had an affair with a man here. My day had been ruined this early in the morning," Anne said while pouting her lips.
- Memories of their kiss last night flooded into Zeke's mind as he saw Anne's pouted lips. He swiftly averted his gaze as he recalled the sensation and softness of her lips. He pulled Anne behind his back and said, "Harper had just gotten into trouble, and now you're all here to take advantage of the situation?"
- All the reporters slowly backed off as Zeke glared at them menacingly. "Mr. Garrett, we weren't aware that it's you." One of the reporters said. "Mr. Garrett, it seems like the information we received was false. We'll be leaving now." Another reporter added. None of them dared to offend Zeke.
- Michael was a hero, a retired commander who had once led the entire military. The Miller family was one of the well-known families in Acarnion. The Storm Group under the Miller family was the leading enterprise in Acarnion. The Miller family may as well be recognized as the emperor of Acarnion.
- Ever since Michael's daughter, Lucille Miller, passed away from a car accident ten years ago, he adopted the son of a martyr. The child that was adopted was Zeke. They developed an inseparable bond as Michael raised and loved him as his son.
- No one would dare to deny Zeke if he ever claimed to be the prince of Acarnion. He had been away from Acarnion for a few years in the military. Zeke had since then skyrocketed through the ranks and became the youngest major general of the Southeast Military Region.
- Now that Zeke had returned and was protecting Anne, all the reporters knew that retreating was the only option. Anne sighed a breath of relief behind Zeke's back as she saw the change of attitude of the reporters.
- Zeke held on to Anne's hand and said, "The Miller family possesses the right to look into this matter. I hope you all will never trouble Anne again. After all, Mr. Miller is getting old now, his temper is not as great as it used to be." Zeke's words were undoubtedly full of threats.
- All the reporters nodded in silence and swiftly left the scene. Anne felt that everything that had happened was a farce. If Zeke did not leave the room before the reporters arrived, things might have gone in a different direction. "Uncle Zeke, I'm sorry for all the trouble once again." Anne apologized. She felt guilty as Zeke's reputation was almost spoiled by the commotion.
- Zeke suddenly approached Anne. Her nostrils were filled with the minty scent of his sweat. Anne found herself leaning against the door frame after taking a few steps back. Her mind went blank as she watched Zeke gradually approach.
- "Uncle Zeke..." Anne stuttered. "Call me that one more time if you dare," Zeke said. Their faces were inches apart. Anne could feel his breath on her face as their noses were almost in contact. Zeke suddenly reached out his hand and placed it by her ear. She could feel his masculinity through their clothing.
- Anne's heart skipped a beat.
