Chapter 11 I Don't Need Trash Like Him

  • "You're my uncle, you can't… Ouch!"
  • Before Anne could finish her sentence, Zeke twisted her waist, and tears welled up in her eyes.
  • "It hurts!"
  • She rubbed her waist and glanced at Zeke accusingly. "I'm already at my lowest point. I was treated horribly by my stepmother. Even my boyfriend cheated on me with my sister. I didn't expect you to bully me too. Is there any kindness left in this world?"
  • Tears rolled down her cheeks as she spoke.
  • The feeling of betrayal came back to her once more. It ripped through her scarred heart.
  • Zeke suddenly halted.
  • It was not that he did not see Anne deleting Shayne's number earlier. Nor did he not hear her say that she broke up. He genuinely thought Anne was being petty.
  • Zeke knew very well how she felt toward Shayne.
  • His face sank as soon as he heard why she had broken up with Shayne.
  • "Shayne cheated on you?"
  • "Yeah."
  • Anne did not want to admit it but she had to.
  • Shayne looked innocent although he slept with Amy.
  • This was a fact, and there was no way around it.
  • That feeling when someone spat on something that was once yours felt disgusting. It was like swallowing a fly.
  • No matter how desirable it once was, Anne no longer desired it.
  • Seeing Anne's depressed face, Zeke could not help but frown. He felt pain in his heart.
  • "Do you still want him back?"
  • "I don't need trash like him!" Anne sobbed.
  • Although she was heartbroken, she still had her principles.
  • All of a sudden, Zeke's gloomy expression turned bright.
  • "Don't worry, you'll meet someone better than Shayne!"
  • Like me.
  • Zeke did not say that.
  • He stretched out his arms and wrapped them around Anne's shoulders so that she could lean on him more comfortably. She felt that Shayne was no longer as annoying as before.
  • Perhaps she was tired from crying and leaned onto him as Zeke's arm wrapped around her waist. She then spoke in sotto voce, "But uncle, my heart still hurts so much…"
  • "The pain will go numb as time goes on. Then, you'll slowly recover from the numbness. Don't worry, I'll be here for you."
  • Zeke was not good at comforting people.
  • Anne nodded and said, "You're the best."
  • She leaned into Zeke's arms.
  • That familiar body scent made her eyelids grow heavier as her head dipped little by little. Her long hair covered half her face. Then, she flung them back as if it was in her way.
  • Her hair flung across Zeke's face, and a unique scent assailed his nose.
  • Zeke grinned, stretched out his hands, and held her hair in his palms. He braided them little by little.
  • "Uh, Uncle…"
  • Anne's voice sounded drowsy.
  • "Yes?"
  • "I'm tired."
  • "Go to sleep then. I'm right here."
  • That sentence seemed like an order for her to fall into a deep slumber.
  • Anne slept on Zeke's lap as soon as she heard him.
  • Her breath was rhythmic. He could feel her breath on his thighs through his pants.
  • It felt hot like a feather passing through his heart, making his mouth feel dry.
  • However, when he lowered his head, he saw a petite face lying on his lap after crying so hard that caught his attention.
  • She was filled with grief, loneliness, and depression.
  • Zeke sighed. By letting her lie down like this, she was teasing him without knowing it while he smiled bitterly.
  • "Capt. Garrett, should we continue on our way to the base or should we head home?"
  • The driver had never seen Zeke being this gentle toward any girl.
  • However, that girl seemed to be his niece.
  • He could not figure out what Zeke wanted at the moment, so he had to ask for instructions.
  • He wanted to pretend that he did not exist, but they needed to go somewhere eventually.
  • Zeke frowned and thought for a moment, then said, "Return to the base. The old man will go bananas if I send Anne home like this."
  • "Yes, sir."
  • They arrived at Base 031 and drove to Zeke's office.
  • Zeke got out of the car and carried Anne. There was an uproar in an instant.
  • "Is that Capt. Garrett?"
  • "Oh my, since when was Capt. Garrett this close to a woman? He even brought one back to base."
  • "Who's the lucky girl?"
  • The discussions were not loud, but Zeke could still feel many gazes on him.
  • He did not bother to explain, so he carried Anne into the office and laid her on the bed in the lounge.
  • Anne fell asleep again after finding a comfortable position.
  • Zeke laughed when he saw her like this.
  • Anne was seen as calm and mature by outsiders. However, she was still a child whenever she was with him.
  • She did not hide her pain and coquettish behavior from him at all. Zeke was satisfied as she expressed her true colors.
