Chapter 1 It Was A Setup

• Hot!
• So hot!
• Anne Llyod was tossing and turning her body around as she felt like every inch of her body was on fire.
• It seemed like even her blood was boiling then.
• Anne felt so hot that she wanted to loosen her collar up just so that she could breathe better. However, she was surprised to not feel anything when she felt her neck.
• Why am I not wearing anything?
• What happened?
• Anne shook her head, trying to clear her mind.
• She pulled her blanket away after that
• Her naked body seemed to be completely flustered underneath the blanket.
• Anyone would have known what happened to her then.
• It turned out that someone had set her up.
• It took a really long time before her memory started to come back to her.
• Apparently, just like usual, her step-mother, Jaiden Green was waiting for her husband to return home earlier.
• Since Anne never got along with Jaiden well, she decided to go out for some drinks. However, she felt a little tipsy by the time she returned.
• "Anne, we need to talk."
• Jaiden looked rather gloomy when she said that.
• However, Anne smirked and asked. "What do you want to talk about? Are you going to talk about how hard it is to be a step-mother, or are you going to talk about how difficult I am to you as a stepdaughter?" She was leaning on the railings while saying that.
• Surprisingly enough, she did not yell at Anne for being rude. Instead, she looked depressed as she said. "Anne, your father is having some trouble."
• Hearing that made Anne nervous.
• However, she recovered immediately and said, "What does that have to do with me?"
• "That is your father, Anne!" Jaiden exclaimed.
• However, Anne replied with a forced smile before saying, "So what?"
• It seemed that Anne was being more difficult to deal with than usual.
• So, she nervously rubbed her hands as she was unsure about what to say next.
• This was the first time that Jaiden was ever this nice to Anne ever since she had gotten married into her family.
• However, this only made Anne sneer at her.
• "Well, if you have nothing else to say, I'll be heading to bed now."
• "Anne!"
• Suddenly, Jaiden knelt in front of Anne.
• This shocked Anne immediately as she knew just how arrogant Jaiden was.
• "I don't have time for any of your antics. Just say whatever you have in mind right now.
• At the end of the day, Anne could not bear to be ruthless to Jaiden.
• Jaiden nervously bit her lip and said, "Anne, the only person who can save your father now is your grandfather. Can you please speak to him?"
• Hearing this stunned Anne before suddenly sneering at Jaiden as she said, "My grandfather? Have you forgotten just how you forced your way into our family by getting pregnant after my mother died? How shameless could you possibly be by asking me to do that?" Anne turned around and left without saying another word after that.
• Her heart was throbbing then.
• She knew that her mother would not have fought with her father or gotten into a car accident if it was not for her. That way, her grandfather would not have to go through the pain of losing his daughter.
• Anne obviously was worried about her father, but she could not bring herself to get her grandfather involved in this mess.
• Soon, a teardrop trickled down her cheek.
• Anne could not decide if she should help Jaiden or side with her father.
• However, Jaiden got up and followed behind Anne.
• "Look, Anne, there is another way to save your father if you don't want to beg your grandfather for help."
• "What is it?" Anne stopped and turned to face Jaiden.
• Suddenly, Jaiden raised her hand and stabbed Anne with a syringe.
• "You!"
• Anne immediately pushed Jaiden away as she staggered backward. She noticed the pure disdain in Jaiden's eyes.
• Anne knew that Jaiden hated her, but she never imagined Jaiden would really harm her.
• Soon, Anne collapsed.
• Anne immediately knew what had happened when she woke up to find herself in a completely different place that she had never seen before.
• Jaiden set me up!
• She could not believe that Jaiden had willingly gifted her to a stranger just to save her husband.
• As furious as Anne was, she could still keep herself calm.
• Run!
• I must run away!
• So, Anne wrapped herself with her bedsheets and decided to escape while she still had a clear mind.
• However, the door suddenly swung open as soon as she did that.
• The footsteps were getting closer as Anne felt like they were trampling all over her heart.
• So, without warning, Anne decided to strike whoever was approaching her down first.
• However, she did not expect her opponent to be that capable of handling himself.
• It turned out that the intruder was able to dodge her attack before grabbing her wrist.
• The grip was so tight that Anne staggered into the intruder's arms.
• However, Anne noticed a hint of peppermint coming from the attacker. She also noticed a familiar handsome face when she got a good look at the man.
