Chapter 4 A Man And A Woman

  • "Why are you so angry? I did not do it intentionally."
  • Anne felt like she was wronged.
  • After all, she was drugged.
  • She did not want to do that too, but she was too embarrassed to say it.
  • Zeke caught every word Anne mumbled. He regretted.
  • He knew Anne did not mean it. She would not do things that were so out of her character if she was fully conscious.
  • However, the urges that she evoked do not go down easily.
  • "Intentional or not, I don't care. I only know that you almost devoured me. That's not something you can get by saying it was not intentional." Zeke sounded rather angry and frustrated.
  • Cough!
  • Anne choked on her saliva.
  • Devoured him?
  • Seriously?
  • Please stop being so paranoid!
  • You are a captain!
  • One of the top military men!
  • How would a petite lady like me devour you?
  • Anne could only curse Zeke in her mind.
  • "Did you curse me in your mind?"
  • Zeke's words gave Anne a shock.
  • "Oh please, Uncle Zeke. Your shirt is over my head. Do you have X-ray eyes, or are you a mind reader?"
  • Anne felt helpless in front of Zeke, like she could not hide anything from him.
  • That was an awful feeling.
  • "One thousand lines of reflection on what you had done. Deliver it to me at the base by noon tomorrow. You better watch out if you miss out even a word."
  • Then, Zeke ignored Anne and walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist.
  • He could hear Anne shrieking from behind. He smiled, and his expression softened.
  • Teasing her had become his new habit.
  • Zeke touched his lips absentmindedly.
  • He could still feel the lingering heat on his lips, her sweet scent, and the softness he wanted to savor forever. An intense feeling was bubbling inside him.
  • "Ah!"
  • Anne suddenly shrieked again.
  • "What's the matter this time?" said Zeke calmly this time.
  • "Zeke Garrett! You are showering in front of me! You are my uncle! Don't you know that there's a lady here?"
  • Zeke let out a hearty laugh.
  • "What I'm doing is nothing compared to you, you almost devoured me. Didn't I cover your eyes? Do you think I should go and find another place to shower in my current condition? Or do you really hope something will happen between us?"
  • Anne was speechless. What else could she say?
  • So, she kept her mouth shut and started cursing Jaiden in her mind instead.
  • Knowing Anne's temperament, Zeke decided to stop teasing her. Instead, he took out a shirt from his luggage and ordered some food over the phone.
  • Then, the military doctor arrived.
  • "Hey, Capt. Garrett. Why do you call me in the middle of the night? Are you injured? Let me have a look."
  • The military doctor was a beautiful lady. She could not hide her admiration towards Zeke.
  • Zeke tactfully avoided her touch. "Can you take a look at my niece? She was drugged. Now she is soaking in cold water," he said.
  • The military doctor left her hand hanging in the air.
  • She knew Zeke had a niece.
  • However, it was strange to hear that his niece was drugged and appeared in Zeke's room in the middle of the night.
  • Zeke knew what she was thinking, but he refused to explain.
  • There was a short moment of suffocating silence.
  • "Liz, can you do it? Maybe I should ask someone else."
  • Zeke looked angry.
  • Liz Preston was surprised to see Zeke, who was always in control of his temper, lose his patience. But that was how she knew the importance of Anne in Zeke's heart.
  • "I'll go and see her."
  • Liz knew that was not the best time to ask questions.
  • So, she picked up her first-aid kit and headed toward the bathroom.
  • The cold water was getting warmer from Anne's body heat and slowly losing its effect.
  • Anne was slowly slipping into unconsciousness again.
  • However, Anne suddenly sat up in the bath water when she saw a beautiful lady come in with a first-aid kit. She grabbed Liz's hand. "Save me, doctor."
  • That was the first time Liz saw Anne.
  • Anne was completely different from Liz.
  • Unlike Liz, Anne never had military training. She was an adorable, beautiful, and innocent girl.
  • Liz felt relieved.
  • A girl like Anne was used to pampering growing up, and Zeke hated women who were not self-reliant. So she could only be his niece and nothing more.
  • Liz did not know why she would think that way, but she was calmer now.
  • So, Liz smiled and took out a syringe. "Don't worry. It will get better," she said in a gentle voice.
  • A cold stream of liquid entered Anne's body. Anne felt cooler before she collapsed.
