Chapter 6 He Found Her
- The following day, Yvonne received a phone call from her best friend, Annalise, during work.
- Annalise's family forced her to go on a blind date, especially her parents, who even resorted to threatening her with their deaths. However, she traveled abroad and could not return to the country at that moment.
- According to Annalise, her blind date partner was a university professor, and he was around thirty years old. His parents were both teachers, so he grew up in a family of academics. Therefore, the man was considered decent and was a good match for Annalise.
- Having said that, after Annalise chatted online with him for a few days, she noticed their way of thinking and values were too different, prompting her not to like him.
- Annalise also wanted to settle down with someone, but she could not find a suitable man.
- That day, her blind date partner suddenly requested for them to meet up, rendering Annalise at a loss, so she had no choice but to ask for Yvonne's help.
- “Yvonne, you're the only person who can help me in this matter. I'm sure you'll know what to do.”
- Annalise was Yvonne's best friend, so Yvonne knew the former was still holding on to a certain man all those years.
- After getting off work, Yvonne went straight to the pre-agreed blind date venue.
- She saw the man seated at the table as soon as she walked through the door.
- He was completely different from how Annalise had described him. The man was remarkably outstanding and eye-catching, making him stand out among the crowd.
- He was dressed formally in a neat white shirt and black trousers.
- He was evidently better-looking than an ordinary man. Judging by the half-filled glass of water on the table, Yvonne figured he must have arrived for some time.
- He's immaculately dressed and patient for waiting for so long.
- Before attending the blind date, Annalise had shared some gossip with Yvonne, causing the latter to think that her blind date partner was a bald old man, but that was not the case.
- “Hello, I am Annalise Shaffer.” She immediately cut to the chase without giving the man time to react.
- The man frowned when he saw her. She's...
- Taking in his knitted brows, Yvonne thought he was not interested in her too.
- Therefore, she steeled her resolution and decided to resolve the matter as soon as possible.
- “Do you have a matrimonial house?”
- Annalise mentioned that this university professor's ex-girlfriend dumped him because he didn't have a matrimonial house. If I deliberately raise this subject, I suppose he will despise me further. Perhaps he will leave in anger after a few minutes.
- Just as Yvonne thought he would leave in a fury, she heard him piping up, “I have a mansion that could be used as a matrimonial house.”
- Mansion? Yaleview is the most developed and prosperous city in Astoria. Even the most inferior estate here is worth more than tens of million. Are university professors so rich? He must have bought that mansion using money from the employees' provident fund, and the mansion must be located in the suburbs. After all, his parents are teachers. The employees' provident fund for educators is very high. That's right. That must be it.
- She picked up a glass of water and took a sip before lowering her gaze and saying, “Do you have a car then? It is quite inconvenient for us to travel around without a car...”
- Before she could finish the rest of her sentence, Yvonne caught sight of Savant Murlond's car keys on the table.
- There was no way she would fail to recognize that logo after staying in the Lawson residence for three years.
- He drove a Maserati, a vehicle worth the price of a house.
- Yvonne instantaneously felt as if the water she had just swallowed was stuck in her throat. Unwilling to admit defeat, she probed further.
- “Do you have savings? Our expenditure will be considerably high if we stay together. I am jobless at the moment, so you'll have to bear the taxing responsibility of earning money to sustain our family's living.”
- “My savings are enough for me to provide for you.”
- Yvonne blinked at him. She was suddenly stumped and at a loss because all her attempts to garner his disapproval had been futile.
- Fortunately, their food was served soon after. Yvonne gazed downward and focused on having her meal. Unexpectedly, she saw an additional fork entering her field of vision. Savant had placed a piece of ham on her plate.
- She looked up and met his eyes. There was a faint smile on his face.
- “Watching you while you savor the food improved my appetite.”
- Savant regarded her with a surprised look.
- It is her. It has been a very long time since we last met. She's slightly more mature now, so I failed to recognize her earlier.
