Chapter 9 Erasing Everything

  • Cassandra and Cyrus slowly left the company building under the watchful eyes of the Dark Moon Pack members, whose gazes were filled with pity and disdain.
  • Cassandra's departure seemed to tell everyone that between destined mates and true love, there would still be those who choose true love. Hence, true love still prevails.
  • But those were just other people's thoughts, and Cassandra didn't care anymore.
  • Cyrus helped Cassandra into the passenger seat. As the car drove off, she stared blankly at the trees rushing past outside.
  • Her desolation was noticed by Cyrus, who calmly hid his emotions. “Cass, what are you thinking?”
  • Cassandra snapped out of her reverie and smiled. “Nothing.”
  • Half an hour later, Cyrus smoothly parked the car. “We're here.”
  • In front of them was a rather retro two-story bungalow. A white-haired old man was sitting in a rattan chair drinking tea.
  • The old man turned around and gave her a slight smile. “Cass.”
  • Cassandra froze, unable to believe it.
  • The elderly man heaved a sigh. “I'm aware of your situation. I'm sorry for what you've been through.”
  • Tears welled up in her eyes, and she threw herself into his arms, “Grandpa, where have you been all these years?”
  • Six years ago, funds were stolen from Sandstrider Pack's Horizon Group, and the evidence pointed to the Alpha at the time, who was also her father.
  • Not only was her father expelled from the pack, but he also faced imprisonment.
  • Because her stepmother and stepsister fled with the money, her father attempted suicide.
  • Norman Hudson explained, “I've been investigating the theft of the pack's funds all these years, and I found out it was related to Trion Group from Storm Pack. Your father was made a scapegoat.”
  • Trion Group was the largest real estate company in Huxville, chaired by Trevor Gardner, who was Meredith's father and also the Alpha of Storm Pack.
  • Cassandra was shocked as it was the Gardner family again. Storm Pack and Sandstrider Pack were like natural enemies. Trevor targeted her father, and Meredith was adamant about targeting her.
  • As Cassandra was lost in thought, Norman pulled out a document and handed it to her. “Cass, this is a fifty-one percent stake in Sandstrider Pack's Horizon Group. Don't ask me how I got it. I know you need it.”
  • Cassandra pressed her lips together, her expression solemn. “I will find the person who framed my father and prove his innocence. I won't let you down,” she promised.
  • Inside the Fallon residence of Dark Moon Pack, Sienna was directing the servants to erase all traces of Cassandra's presence.
  • The sheets she slept on, the slippers she wore, the apron she wore, and even the dishes she used were all thrown away.
  • “What are you doing?” Thaddeus, who had returned, furrowed his brows slightly.
  • Sienna snorted. “What's the point of keeping that woman's things? Meredith is going to marry into our family in the future.”
  • Her eyes flickered, and she quickly approached him, “Thad, didn't you break the bond with her? Let me tell you, she won't get her hands on anything from Dark Moon Pack!”
  • He said indifferently, “She didn't ask for anything.”
  • Sienna clearly didn't believe it. “Impossible! She has no money, so how could she not take advantage of you? Where did she get the money to keep a lover outside?”
  • Thaddeus' temples throbbed when he recalled Cassandra's relationship with that male model. Unwilling to deal with Sienna anymore, he directly instructed Maddox to show her the divorce agreement.
  • Upstairs, Meredith was sitting by the window reading a book.
  • She lifted her gaze, giving him a gentle smile. “You're back.”
  • Seeing her serene smile, Thaddeus felt his irritation slowly dissipating.
  • “Are you feeling better now?”
  • “A little. It's boring being cooped up in the room, so I picked up a book to pass the time.” Meredith gently placed the book on the bedside table, stood up, and hugged him from behind. “Thad, do you regret rejecting her? After all, she was your destined mate.”
  • Thaddeus' voice was low. “There's nothing to regret. I don't love her, and I'm not the only one in the world who rejected my mate. Besides, she initiated the rejection herself.”
  • A slight smile crept onto Meredith's lips.
  • He turned around, embracing her. “Don't mention her again, what's most important now is your health. Mr. Gardner will hold a banquet for you next month, so get better soon.”
  • Meredith blinked and smiled. “I know.”
  • After Thaddeus left, she called the Gardner family's butler.
  • “Ms. Meredith, what can I do for you?”
  • “Tell my father about how Cassandra hit me with her car. Do you know how to explain it?”
  • “Yes, Ms. Meredith.”
  • After ending the call, Meredith turned to look at the cactus on the windowsill, a slight smirk playing on her lips.
  • Back at the office, Thaddeus summoned Maddox. “Regarding the 'Azure Heart' that I told you to get, what's the update now?”
  • Maddox respectfully replied, “Mr. Fallon, we've received news from overseas. It will be airfreighted here in about a week.”
  • The “Azure Heart” necklace, a renowned masterpiece by the international designer Kay, was a one-of-a-kind piece with an immeasurable value. Maddox knew Thaddeus had put a lot of effort into buying it, intending to propose to Meredith at the Storm Pack's banquet.
  • Maddox couldn't help but think of Thaddeus' wife, Cassandra who had been with him for six years.
  • Thaddeus had never given Cassandra a gift, not even flowers, let alone an expensive necklace.
  • Once, Cassandra brought a lunchbox to visit Thaddeus at his office, only to be coldly turned away by him. She immediately became the laughingstock of the whole company. All the employees knew that Thaddeus didn't care about his wife. Later, Cassandra came a few more times and was always turned away by the receptionist.
  • A few days ago, Cassandra was able to enter the company smoothly because he specifically instructed the receptionist to let Cassandra in directly if upon seeing her.
  • Maddox sighed. The way he treated Cassandra didn't even come close to the fraction of gentleness he showed Meredith.
  • When Thaddeus returned to his office to deal with some paperwork, he suddenly received a call from his best friend.
  • Thaddeus answered the call and asked, “What's up?”
  • The voice on the other end was a frivolous young man. “Thaddeus, take a look at the latest headlines on the internet.”
  • Thaddeus had no clue what was going on. He unlocked his phone and glanced at the screen. His gaze froze instantly.
