Chapter 24 Ulterior Motives

On her journey to Friar Plum Club, Cassandra found herself caught unexpectedly in a sudden downpour that seemed to intensify as she drove. The rain grew heavier, quickly transforming the day from drab to drearier.
By the time she reached her destination, she was met with the unwelcome sight of a completely occupied underground parking lot. Left with no alternative, she resigned herself to parking her car in the exposed outdoor lot. Upon exiting her vehicle, Cassandra was dismayed to discover she had forgotten to bring an umbrella and resorted to using her handbag to shield herself from the relentless rain.
Despite the close proximity of the parking area to the main hall, the intensity of the rainfall ensured that Cassandra was thoroughly drenched by the time she reached the shelter of the building. The chill of the wind caused her to shiver uncontrollably, and her clothes soaked through.
