Chapter 5 She No Longer Cared

  • Thaddeus steadily advanced toward her, ultimately cornering her against the wall. His voice was icy as he questioned, “Do you really think I would believe you?”
  • When he uttered those words, a wave of agonizing pain radiated from within him. It was that d*mned mark again, punishing him whenever he spoke harshly to his destined mate.
  • Any doubt or harsh remarks he cast upon his destined mate would only intensify his agony. Yet, Thaddeus felt doubting Meredith words was akin to questioning the love between them.
  • Compared to that, he was more inclined to believe in Meredith, whom he loved deeply.
  • Thaddeus's inner wolf howled in agony. The forced union of two destined mates who didn't love each other would cause even Orso, Thaddeus' inner wolf, to experience a heart-wrenching sensation.
  • “I didn't hit her with my car!” Cassandra stared intently into Thaddeus' eyes, her conscience clear and her tone unwavering.
  • Enduring the pain within, Thaddeus gazed down at her condescendingly. “You're a smart woman. You should know what to do.”
  • He left, leaving nothing but a room filled with cold silence.
  • “What a useless mate! I bet the Moon Goddess was napping when she was supposed to be blessing you,” Haley complained.
  • Thaddeus was certainly the most peculiar Alpha Haley had ever encountered up till now. He disregarded his destined mate, choosing instead to pursue his so-called “true love.”
  • Even if Dark Moon Pack were to face utter ruin in the future, it would surely be the Moon Goddess punishing him!
  • Luckily, Cassandra did not dwell in her sorrow for too long. Having been given a second chance at life, she knew she had to cherish the present more than ever. She couldn't afford to lose her life again in such a baffling manner.
  • In her previous life, she had impulsively sought out Meredith, only to end up being hunted down in the forest.
  • Therefore, she couldn't leave the house that night. Even if it wasn't Meredith who made the move, it was clear that there were others outside of the pack who wanted her dead.
  • The very next morning, Thaddeus took Meredith to the hospital for a follow-up check-up.
  • Cassandra stood before the mirror, discarding the apron she'd worn for six years and slipped into a white dress. Carrying her suitcase, she made her way downstairs.
  • Lucian was lounging with one leg crossed over the other, engrossed in the television. He glanced up. “Hey! Where are you going?”
  • Cassandra gave him a nonchalant glance, disregarding his presence and headed straight for the door.
  • Upon realizing that something was amiss, Lucian hastily stepped forward, grabbing hold of her suitcase. With a stern brow and cold gaze, he retorted, “Are you deaf? Didn't you hear me speaking to you? Have you cleaned the room? Have you cooked? Where on earth are you planning to go this early in the morning?”
  • At sixteen years old, the boy's wild side was already showing. Judging by his current immature antics, Cassandra couldn't bear to imagine just how much worse he could become in the future!
  • He not only lacked the slightest respect for his sister-in-law, but he even had the audacity to boss her around, giving orders left and right.
  • Cassandra carefully pried his fingers open, her face stern. “Listen here, you little rascal,” she said coldly, “All of you scoundrels from Dark Moon Pack, keep your distance! From this day forward, I'm done catering to you all.”
  • Even though she didn't exert much force, he deliberately yelled, “Mom! Mom, come quickly! This b*tch is bullying me!”
  • “What's wrong, Lucian?”
  • When Sienna descended the stairs, her face immediately turned pale. Cursing under her breath, she picked up a whip smeared with diluted wolf's poison and lashed it toward Cassandra. “Heavens! You vile creature, how dare you bully my son! I'll kill you!”
  • In the past, this elderly woman had not refrained from inflicting harm upon her. She would use a whip laced with diluted wolf poison. Although the wounds were not severe, they would leave her in immense pain for a couple of days.
  • Back then, she had endured it all for Thaddeus.
  • She, who had once tasted the bitterness of death, knew all too well that this whip played a part in her demise. Over the course of six years, the wolf poison laced on the whip had unknowingly seeped into her body, deteriorating her health to the point where she could no longer escape her fate.
  • Cassandra swiftly grabbed hold, with a strong tug she threw the whip to the ground. Her voice was icy cold. “I dare you to lay a finger on me again.”
  • Suddenly, Sienna was taken aback by her.
  • After realizing what had happened, she exclaimed, “Cassandra, you've crossed the line! I will have my son drive you out of the pack! I will even have him break the bond with you!”
  • The process of breaking the bond was excruciatingly painful. It wasn't an exaggeration to say that the party on the receiving end felt as if they had lost half their life. Sienna simply didn't believe that Cassandra, that little wretch, would want to terminate the mark.
  • In the past, out of respect for Agnes, and not wanting to be despised by Thaddeus, she always avoided conflicts with Sienna.
  • She used to be scared, but now, she didn't care anymore.
  • Cassandra spoke nonchalantly. “Whatever.”
  • Regardless of the tantrums thrown by those behind her, she departed, dragging her suitcase away from the territory of Dark Moon Pack.
  • As soon as she stepped out of their territory, a red Ferrari pulled up in front of her. The werewolf in the car was strikingly handsome and devilishly charming. He beckoned her, “Darling, hop in.”
  • Cassandra settled into the car, and the two of them departed.
