Chapter 6 Fall In Love With Her

  • Cassandra glanced at Quentin, her eyes slightly warm and her thoughts undulating.
  • Quentin was her childhood friend, a typical scion, and they had a very close relationship.
  • In her previous life, as she was on the brink of death, she never imagined she'd have a chance to reincarnate. She assumed she would never see Quentin again. Thus, being able to see him again, she was overjoyed.
  • As Quentin drove, he caught a glimpse of Cassandra's expression in the rearview mirror, leaving him quite puzzled. “Darling, why are you staring at me like that? Could it be my handsome face has left you mesmerized?”
  • Cassandra wordlessly rolled her eyes.
  • Quentin laughed heartily. “Just kidding!” Then, he asked tentatively, “Although, have you really made up your mind?”
  • “I've never been so sure about something before.” Cassandra suddenly broke into a smile.
  • She was already naturally delicate and beautiful. With that smile, it was as if she had dispelled years of gloom, becoming radiant.
  • Quentin looked at her with understanding. “So, you've finally come to terms with it. I almost thought you'd be stuck in that rut forever, unable to get back on your feet...”
  • After he finished speaking, he looked as if he was grateful to the Moon Goddess. Prior to that, he had cursed the Moon Goddess quite a few times due to the fact that Cassandra was destined to be the mate of Thaddeus, the ruthless Alpha.
  • Cassandra gave a faint smile. “It's all in the past now.”
  • Quentin pouted. “It was still six years. Considering the lifespan of us werewolves, it hurts to think you've wasted six years in the Dark Moon Pack.” He continued in a teasing tone, “I was even thinking if you got kicked out after getting old, I'd grudgingly marry you for companionship. After all, we're childhood friends.”
  • Cassandra rolled her eyes. “I'm not so desperate that I need my childhood friend to marry me.”
  • “By the way, this is the divorce agreement you asked me to prepare. Take a look.”
  • Upon accepting the agreement, Cassandra casually flipped through it. “I won't take anything from the Dark Moon Pack. That's Thaddeus' own stuff. I owed him nothing in the past, and I won't owe him anything in the future.”
  • Without any hesitation, she penned down her own name. As the final stroke touched the paper, Cassandra heard Haley's joyful cheer.
  • Seeing her so forthright, Quentin couldn't help but laugh. “All right then, that's straightforward! What's your plan after the divorce?”
  • Cassandra put away her pen, a slight arch to her eyebrows as she declared, “I want to return to the Sandstrider Pack and reclaim my leadership.”
  • “No problem, I've got your back!” Quentin slapped his thigh in agreement.
  • “However, before that, we need to swing by the hospital to see Meredith,” Cassandra said, her smile laden with hidden meaning.
  • “All right, Ms. Cassandra.”
  • At the familiar hospital's top floor, Cassandra confidently found her way to Ward 1203. She knocked on the door, then pressed down on the handle and pushed the door open without hesitation.
  • Upon seeing that familiar yet detestable face, Cassandra was consumed by rage. A flash of murderous fury flickered in her eyes because that woman could very well be the one who killed her in her past life!
  • The woman with delicate features on the bed was taken aback when she saw Cassandra glaring at her so fiercely. It was as if she had been suddenly startled, shrinking into her blankets. Her eyes welled with tears as she exhibited a deep fear of Cassandra.
  • With a cold laugh, Cassandra reflected on her experiences in her previous life. If it wasn't for those experiences, she would have been completely oblivious to Meredith's acting.
  • Thaddeus frowned as he stepped forward, shielding Meredith behind him. His voice was icy as he asked, “What are you here for?”
  • In a typical pair of mates, they could sense each other's presence no matter where they were. However, due to Thaddeus' deep-rooted disdain for Cassandra, he had long since severed all connection to her.
  • His action was undoubtedly another stab in Cassandra's heart. In their six years of marriage, he had never defended her like that.
  • Cassandra managed to suppress the bitterness in her heart. She didn't have any evidence to prove that Meredith was the one who had harmed her, so she couldn't act impulsively.
  • With those thoughts, she regained her composure. She calmly retrieved the divorce agreement from her bag and handed it to him, saying, “Sign this. We'll break our bond immediately.”
  • When Thaddeus took it and looked, his face gradually darkened, his voice icy cold. “You want me to remove the mark?”
  • “What else then?” Cassandra twirled a strand of her hair around her finger, her smile warm yet distant. “You really have had it tough these past six years, haven't you? If we break the bond, you'll be free, won't you?”
  • Thaddeus furrowed his brows, his expression icy and unusually serious. He had no idea what game she was playing.
  • At that moment, Meredith called out weakly, “Thaddeus...”
  • It was as if she was hinting at something with that.
  • Thaddeus glanced at Meredith, then once again settled his gaze on Cassandra's face, swallowing slightly, “We'll discuss this matter at home. You should leave now. Don't disturb Meredith.”
  • Cassandra laughed, but her eyes lacked mirth. “I'm serious. You're going to take Ms. Gardner back anyway, right? Wouldn't it be better if I left? That way, I won't be a thorn in your side.”
  • “Cassandra!” The man's voice was both cold and deep as if he had already reached his limit of patience with her.
  • Upon hearing his mate's declaration to break their bond, Orso howled in a mix of rage and panic. That dreadful sensation assaulted Thaddeus.
  • Logically speaking, those events were bound to happen sooner or later. However, when Cassandra brought them up, he couldn't help but feel annoyed.
  • He felt as if his mate had betrayed him.
  • “What's the matter? Can't the Alpha bear let go of his fated mate? Are you unwilling to remove the mark?” Cassandra's lips curved into an elegant and captivating smile.
  • With a pitiful look, Meredith gazed at Thaddeus, probing the Alpha's thoughts. “Thaddeus... Have you fallen in love with her?”
  • Cassandra watched the Alpha with a cool gaze, waiting for him to make a decision.
  • “I don't even want to lay eyes on a scheming woman like her.” Thaddeus pursed his lips, his expression unusually cold. “I'll sign the divorce agreement, but as for removing the mark, that will have to wait until tomorrow! I'm already exhausted today.”
  • Cassandra gave a satisfied smile. She held the divorce agreement, signed by the man, and left without a second thought, leaving no room for regret.
  • As soon as she stepped out of the ward, Cassandra couldn't help but laugh. However, her laughter didn't last long, as she soon lost control over the tears welling up in her eyes, which started to stream down her cheeks.
  • Even though she had come to terms with it, she couldn't help but feel sorrow when the moment truly arrived.
  • After all, six years of marriage and eight years of affection all went to waste.
  • Yet, she held no regrets. Her journey of falling for Thaddeus had been incredibly tough, to the point where she nearly lost her life once.
  • She didn't care about the position of Luna anymore and was willing to hand it to anyone who desired it.
