• Next day, during afternoon, as Alex sat in his office, engrossed in his work, his phone suddenly rang, jolting him out of his concentration. Glancing at the caller ID, he saw that it was his mother calling. With a slight furrow of his brow, he answered the call.
• "Hi, Mom," Alex greeted, his voice warm with affection. "What's up?"
• "Hi, sweetheart," his mother replied. "I have a small favor to ask of you. My best friend, Fiona, and her daughter, Caitriona, are visiting from out of town. They just reached airport and I was hoping you could pick them up and bring them over here."
