- Giving my hand one last squeeze, he told me, "Why don't you go get changed while I talk to my mother? I don't have any clothes in your size, but your clothes are still dirty, so see if you can tuck one of my button-ups underneath your skirt instead of your dirty blouse and make sure to pull a sweater over yourself, okay? It's chilly outside, and I don't want you to get sick after I just got better."
- I hummed quietly in understanding as I tried to hold the butterflies down in my stomach. His words were just too sweet, even when he wasn't trying to do anything in particular.
- He left me on his bed as he went back out to his parents. I could hear the low murmurs of their words but couldn't really make out anything besides that.
