Chapter 8 Knife Throwing
- “So you are going to have to catch every knife I throw, like this.” Martina demonstrated, throwing a knife at her.
- Sofia moved out of the way, dodging the knife successfully, but Martina threw another one and another one at her, which she successfully dodged.
- “Good, I'm glad you know what I'm talking about. Martina said, then walked to the point where she could easily get the knives which she was going to throw.”
- “Ready?” Martina queried, and then she immediately started throwing the knives almost at the same time.
- Sofia started dodging the knives, going down and standing up, going sideways since Martina kept throwing the knives at her from every direction.
- But she noticed something in time, Martina doesn't like her and wanted her to fail, so Sergio could get rid of her.
- Is she jealous of me? Martina couldn't help but wonder as she kept dodging the knife.
- What if… “Ah!” She let out a light scream as she felt a cut on her shoulder. She sat on the floor and checked her injured shoulder.
- One of the knives has cut her.
- “Be quick when you dodge, and don't expect me to let you off easily just because of your injury. We are just starting again, we haven't got anywhere.” Martina announced, walking towards the knives lying on the floor.
- She started picking them one after the other until she was done. She settled them where she could easily get them and asked Sofia to stand up, Sofia stood up, and they began another round of knife throwing.

- Sofia sat on the bed and let one of the maids help treat her wounds, she has been cut severally, but she was lucky that her face was still intent without a bruise.
- She had covered her face from Martina.
- “Ouch,” she winced when the maid applied spirit to her wound.
- The maid continued without a word and after a while, she finished up and left.
- Sofia lay on the bed, her eyes on the walls of the room. Every part of her body screams pain, but she was going to bear it.
- She has to bear it for the people she loves, she has to bear it until death comes for her.
- Her mind went back to the time she was still in the states.
- **Flashbacks**
- Sofia ran down the small stairs towards her crying son, but found her mother already consoling him.
- “Sorry bubo, mummy is here, sorry my love,” Sofia watched her mother pet her son of 1 year and soon her son stopped crying and fell asleep. Her mom laid her son gently on a sofa and turned to her.
- “So? Have you decided on what to do?” Sofia's mom questioned.
- “Yes, mom, I'm taking up the offer. That is the only way we can live, I will continue my education there too.” Sofia replied.
- “But I don't want you to go, you don't have to follow that part, Sofia.”
- “Mom, how are we going to survive if I don't go? They'll only keep threatening and haunting us. Besides, the benefits involved are so great, we'll live comfortably with my pay.” Sofia tried convincing her mother.
- “No, you can't leave your son, your son needs a mother.”
- “Mom, you are there for him. You are his mother too, you'll raise him better than I will, and I need to work to give him a comfortable life. I can't let him suffer.”
- “But…”
- “Mom please, I beg you, please stop trying to convince me. I've made up my mind, I'll go.” Sofia insisted.
- Her mother backed her and took her gaze to the floor.
- “It's a dangerous job, you might get killed on your first day, Sofia, I don't want to lose you.” Her mom lamented.
- “Mom,” Sofia walked to her front and grabbed her hands.
- “You should know your daughter by now, I'm strong. I won't get killed easily and…”
- “It's all his fault, it's all David's fault.” Sofia's mom burst out, crying.
- “He didn't tell me he was part of such an organization, now he is dead, and he left us with such a burden. I wish he burns in hell,” Sofia's mom cried.
- “Mom, it's okay. I'm fine with it, dad is dead, stop cursing him.” Sofia pulled her close and hugged her.
- After a while, she disengaged from the hug.
- “Now, I'll leave tomorrow morning after saying goodbye to my little kitten. I'll miss you.” Sofia mumbled, her mom kept her gaze on the floor and nodded.
- “You are just 21 years old, Sofia, are you sure you can handle this?”
- “Yes, mom, I will, and they promised to train me first, they train all your members for a year and half before sending them out on any mission. I'm a quick learner, you know that?” Sofia smiled and her mom snickered.
- “This is not about being a quick learner, you might learn your way to your death,” her mom scoffed and Sofia laughed.

- The next morning, after saying her goodbyes to her little boy and her mom, she went into the car that was already waiting for her.
- “Hi, I'm Rico. I'm sure you know about the rules, if you fûck up, we are coming for your mother and your cute little boy.” Rico threatened with a smile, but Sofia glared at him angrily.
- “Let's go,” Rico said to the driver.
- **Flashbacks ends**
- I can't easily give out Information about the triple X assassinator's location, no matter how much I want to pay them back for how they treated and pushed me out here to die.
- If I give out their information, my mom, and son will die, so I'll have to take this secret to my grave. I have to protect my family. I have to protect them. Sofia thought, closing her eyes to sleep.
- She slid her eyes open at the voice she heard next, she looked around to notice she was no longer in her bedroom.
- Where am I? How did I get here? Sofia thought, turning speedily.
- Perhaps, did they get me?
