Chapter 7 Automatic Enemies

  • “What?”
  • “Is that what you expect me to say? To say that I like you? I simply don't want to be the one killing you for him at the end, I would rather not stain my hands with your stubborn blood, so quit being stubborn.” Rocco groaned, sounding more pissed than before.
  • Sofia took her gaze to the floor and gulped down the saliva that has gathered inside her mouth.
  • “Let me take you to your room,” a few minutes later, Rocco proposed. He walked past her and opened a door that Sofia didn't know was there before.
  • She saw stairs that led down somewhere and followed Rocco down the stairs. They got down to an open ground there, it was not decorated with anything whatsoever and Sofia wondered if she was going to sleep in cold open ground.
  • Rocco kept walking somewhere until they got to a place that looked like a kitchen, it was packed with servants who were chatting, but immediately they saw Rocco they all kept quiet.
  • “Maria,” Rocco called out, and a middle-aged woman came out. She looked Sofia's mother's age, but looked healthier.
  • Sofia noticed the older woman staring at her Rocco with eyes she couldn't interpret, it wasn't hatred, fear, or anything, but she was unable to interpret her eyes either.
  • “Give her a room and also take care of her, it's Capo's order.” Rocco turned after saying those words and climbed the stairs.
  • Maria, the older woman, kept staring at Rocco as he disappeared, after she was sure that he had left, her eyes focused on Sofia.
  • “You are the girl everyone is talking about,” Maria commented, but with a soft tone.
  • Sofia looked behind her to see a group of maids staring at her with curiosity and more.
  • “Let me show you to a free room, come,” Maria spoke up before leading Sofia away from the number of curious eyes watching her.
  • Maria took her to a room which happens to be the last in line in the number of rooms there.
  • “Here, this is the only free room. Make yourself comfortable,” Maria told her before turning and leaving.
  • Sofia walked into the room after much hesitation. The room wasn't much decorated, but it had everything one needs in a room.
  • A bed her size, a couch, a reading table, a dressing table, a closet, and a bathroom and toilet. The room wasn't too large, but it wasn't small either. It was more modest.
  • Sofia gently sat her ass down on the bed and looked around the room.
  • The door was thrown open and Sofia found herself jumping to her feet, shocked.
  • Two maids entered with a tray.
  • “Maria asked us to give you this,” one of the maids who have red hair told her.
  • They both kept the tray and were out of the room the next minute.
  • Sofia gently sat down on the bed again, but stood up once the door was thrown open a second time. Maria walked in this time, holding a few clothes.
  • She placed it down on the couch, “you will be putting this on today for your training. Eat up and shower if you have to, I heard you are coming from the hospital.” Maria explained.
  • Sofia wasn't sure if she should reply to Maria, she doesn't know her, she doesn't know any of them.
  • “You can answer me, I won't bite you.” Maria, as if she read her mind, mumbled.
  • “Why?” Sofia slowly asked.
  • “Why what?” Maria probed.
  • “Why are you serving me food when I just got here?”
  • “Sir Rocco asked for it, he asked for you to be taken care of,” Maria responded.
  • Sofia stared at her with a look that says, I don't believe you.
  • Sofia was becoming suspicious, they were feeding her too much. It hasn't been that long since she ate at the hospital.
  • “If you don't want to eat, then I'll take the food back,” Maria made to carry the trays, but Sofia stopped her.
  • “I'll eat it, I'm hungry.” Sofia snatched the tray from her.
  • “Good, eat up, drink your water and come out. Miss Martina will be here in an hour, and she doesn't like being delayed. It's for your good.” Maria told her before leaving the room.
  • Sofia looked down at the tray. She opened it up to see Italian spaghetti and meatballs.
  • Right, even if it's poisoned, it's better I eat it and die than continue being a toy to that bastard Vincenzo. Sofia thought as she started eating the meal, which turned out to be exceptionally delicious.
  • Sofia finished the meal in minutes and found herself smiling, but when she realized this, she slapped herself lightly on the face.
  • You are smiling just because of a meal? A meal that is probably poisoned, she scolded herself as she looked around the room for the bathroom.
  • She found it and entered. Everywhere looked clean and nice for use, but she saw packs of cigarettes on top of her washing hand basin.
  • She went close to it and picked it up, she brought out a stick and stared at it before keeping it back there.
  • *
  • Sofia walked out of the bathroom after making sure she scrubbed herself clean. She picked up the clothes Maria brought for her and wore them.
  • Looking around the room, she doesn't find the trays which she ate.
  • They probably took it. She thought and opened the door, she saw Martina matching towards her door with two maids beside her.
  • Sofia kept staring at her as she got closer.
  • “Good, you are ready,” Martina said, roaming her eyes all over her.
  • “We will be starting today's training in 30 minutes, I came to inform you of that,” Martina stated, staring at Sofia a bit down since she was taller.
  • “Okay,” Sofia folded her arms and replied.
  • Martina frowned at her simple reply.
  • “Okay?” Martina groaned.
  • “You should reply to me with yes, ma'am next time, I'm not on your level.” Martina rasped, glaring down at her.
  • Sofia glared back at her with equal anger, she somehow knew they were never going to get along. Things will never work out between them, which will automatically make them enemies.
