Chapter 38 I Saved Him Once Again
- Brian had stopped ranting, and I seized such an opportunity to enter my chamber. I tiptoed to the door, wound down the handle and saw the ruins in his room. But he was nowhere at eyeshot. My breath became a thudding whistle as I winked nervously at the spoil and ruin that was scattered all over the place.
- I paused at a spot, being calculative about my movements, since Brian could dash out from his hideout and lash at me; Occasionally, I expected him to use a weapon on me; to bite me or to catch me in his hold for peril.
- I combed my eyes within the chambers and couldn’t find any trace of him, but to my dismay, I saw drops of blood in a trail, as though it was his route of escape.
