• “So, what’s the house like?” Tina’s inquisitive face filled the screen of my iPad. Goshness, it made me homesick. After the bodyguards deposited me in a guest room, I’d been on FaceTime with Remy’s friends. They were checking on me, which was rather sweet. I’d called Beth and Tina to vent but Beth wasn’t reachable. “Is it an old-fashioned luxurious chateau or a modernized mansion that looks like a spaceship?”
• “It’s a massive old-fashioned but renovated mansion on a sprawling estate, surrounded by a woodland. I felt like I’d stepped back into the nineteenth century and likely to bump into King Louis any second.”
