• " Reyna, do not hang up. Just hear me out," Alexander's smooth, honeyed voice poured through the phone like it always did when he wanted something. I gripped the phone tighter, bracing myself for whatever he'd in mind this time.
• " Alex, I am kind of busy right now," I replied in a light tone but forcefully. Part of me formerly knew where this conversation was headed, and I was not in the mood for one of his elaborate persuasion tactics.
