Chapter 53 Revelations

• Grabbing a couple of books that were the first ones I could find, I rushed back to my apartment. Alan drove me home as promised after I had looked at his library. Although "looked" is too loud of a word, as I don't remember any of the books I picked up. Some I held upside down, which the man noticed with a smile on his face. That kiss had pierced my consciousness with a special persistence, and now, every time I remembered his touch, my insides twisted into knots and a shiver ran through my whole body. Naturally, I couldn't fall asleep all night, as I couldn't stop thinking for a minute about what had happened. At dawn, I felt completely shattered, but that didn't cancel out my responsibilities for the upcoming day. Tomorrow afternoon, at my father's company office, there will be a press conference where I must look presentable.
• Kira, noticing my beaten state, tried to revive me with caffeine, but even three servings of strong coffee couldn't have the desired effect and I dozed off during the manicure. We spent half of the day together, which made me feel a little calmer inside, as I didn't want to run into Kira's brother today. I was so tangled up in my own desires. When I'm with Boris " I feel so tender and good inside, experiencing that sweet flutter in my chest and getting nervous from his presence, but with Alan it's the opposite. I hate that man, often feeling fear in his presence, yet my body strangely reacts to him and I can't control it. This morning I had a sinful thought and imagined Boris in Alan's place during our kiss yesterday, but that image didn't resonate in my chest. Yuleev certainly stirred me up, but not quite the same... Damn, I'm so confused!"
• "Zoya!" Kira called me, as I was once again lost in thought, staring at one spot for several minutes. "I need to run to my workplace. I want to oversee the work personally, and the documents require my attention."
