Chapter 34 Conversation
- Excitement rolled through my body like an avalanche when I opened my eyes this morning in my own apartment. The focus of my feeling was not in the area of my stomach, but rather in my chest. A surge of energy and joy pushed out all the negativity that had accumulated in my mind recently. Now I was an independent, grown woman who was responsible for herself. It was time to fully immerse myself in this life and... learn how to cook, because I was very hungry. On the agenda for the day was a meeting with the landlord, a new shopping trip, and possibly searching for suitable job opportunities for the future, so I needed enough energy to tackle this list.
- "How do you work?" I asked the stove, which resembled more of a torture device, as the abundance of buttons on the flat panel made my head spin. I needed to find a way to deal with this problem, so I armed myself with my phone and started searching for answers online.
- I figured out the stove and now I faced a completely different challenge " frying eggs. I found a step"by"step instructional video and felt more ashamed than ever before in my life. How could this be? At eighteen years old, I hadn't learned how to cook simple dishes? No matter how detailed the instructions were, I struggled to crack the eggs, poured too much oil in the pan, and it splattered onto the perfectly clean countertop. By the time my culinary masterpiece was fully cooked, I was no longer hungry, as the effort I put into creating a decent breakfast did not justify the results. I reluctantly shoved the burnt eggs into my mouth and decided to go to a cafe for lunch, as my stomach could not handle another such trial today."
