Chapter 7
- Stella’s P.O.V.
- I look at Izzy as she walks up the stairs with Christa and I am glad that she came to see me. I have a feeling there is more going on, but I don’t have all the pieces.
- As I walk back to my little cottage near the forest, I pull out my phone. I sent a text to Alpha Ralph to give him a heads-up on my call in the morning.
- I don’t waste time when I get home and head for bed. I wake up earlier than usual and for a little while I just stare up at my ceiling.
- By the time I get out of bed, I know that I will not tell Ralph the story. I will just ask him to meet with Izzy and then she can decide whether or not to tell him.
- After my morning ritual, I go to the kitchen to make myself some breakfast. With my coffee I walk to the back porch when I have finished breakfast and cleaned the dishes.
- Looking at the forest line in front of me, I grab my phone and make the call to Ralph.
- “Hello, Stella. What can I do for you?” Ralph says and I smile at the fact that he goes straight in to the business part of our conversation.
- I tell him about meeting Izzy, from which Pack she is and that he can help her with her quest. When he asks what her story is, I let him know that it is not my story to tell.
- The only thing I tell him is that she will be asking for the guest-list of the Ball twenty-seven years ago. He promises he will have it for her and that he is more than willing to meet with Izzy.
- Izzy’s P.O.V.
- During breakfast I see a lot of Pack-members and after a couple walks in, Christa leans towards me.
- “Can I ask you something?” She whispers in my ear. By the sound of her voice I can tell it is something serious and I tell her to accompany me to the guest-room.
- Once we are inside, I sit down on the bed and look at her. After a minute she looks at me and asks if I know why the marks on that couple looked different from the rest of the Pack.
- I had noticed it too and I knew the answer to her question. “They are chosen mates.” And by the look on her face I can tell she doesn’t understand what I mean. I ask her what she knows about a Werewolf’s Mate.
- “Not that much, just that Werewolves can find their Mate on a Full Moon.” Is her answer. I explain that every Werewolf and Lycan has a mate, that they are meant for one and other and that it is the most sacred thing for our kind.
- I tell her that sometimes it can take our kind years to find our Mate and that sometimes a Werewolf or Lycan will give up hope. And that they then will take a chosen Mate, someone they love, but that the connection is not as strong as with a true Mate.
- For that reason the mark of true Mates and chosen Mates looks different. She asks me if I have given up on my true mate or that I am still hoping to find mine.
- I decide to tell Christa the truth and gesture for her to sit down.
- After I turned eighteen I could not wait for the first Full Moon to arrive.
- Because I would be able to find my Mate and I knew that was what I wanted more than anything in the world. I was so excited and my friends helped me get ready for the party on Full Moon.
- Dagmar and Jenna helped me pick out a dress and I felt a bit awkward, because I had never worn a dress before.
- But just after midnight I only felt disappointment, because I had not found my Mate. And every Full Moon after that my hope on finding my Mate became smaller and smaller.
- When I was twenty-three I decided that I was done, I gave up hope and made the decision to look for a chosen Mate.
- Most of the men in our Pack had not given up on finding their true Mate yet and I didn’t want to travel in order to find a chosen Mate.
- With my best friend I made a list of men that were suitable.
- And one by one I eliminated them from my list, for one reason or the other. After six months of watching the men in my Pack, there was only one name left.
- After I thought about it, I decided to ask him to be my chosen Mate on the next Full Moon. Unfortunately he rejected me, because he didn’t want a Mate. After that fiasco I gave up completely.
- Christa looks at me in shock and ask if the guy is an idiot.
- “I don’t understand why he would reject you. I bet there are some men around this Pack that would say yes without thinking twice.” She says and I smile at her.
- “I never understood either, but my Father told me he probably didn’t want a Mate because of his Family’s history.” She looks at me and asks if I discussed this with my father and I tell her I only asked him if he knew why the Beta didn’t have a Mate.
- Then a smile appears on her face and she says: “Maybe this search for your Mother, will also bring you your Mate. After all you will be going to different Pack’s.”
- And I nod my head, she could be right about that. But I also realize that I will not always be at a Pack during Full Moon.
- "Have you ever been here during a Full Moon to see if you might have a Mate?" I ask her and I see her face turn different shades of red.
- Looks like Evie and I had read the situation correctly when we saw her interact with Alpha Chris.
- I tell her she should make sure that she is here on the next Full Moon. She tells me that she is afraid she will make a fool of herself.
- "There is nothing to be afraid of. I think he might even ask you to be his chosen Mate." I tell her and I hear her sigh. I really hope that she will take my advice.
