Chapter 2
- Jordan’s P.O.V.
- After training the new recruits, I head back to my house near the forest-line. Suddenly I see Izzy coming from the training fields and it looks like she is upset.
- A part of me wants to go after her and find out what is going on, but the more rational part of me tells me to keep walking. Then Nero, my Lycan, butts in: “Go after her, she really looks upset.
- What are you waiting for, a written invitation?”
- Nero keeps yapping in my head, but then the memories of my Father and Brother surface and I turn on my heels and head home.
- I try to fight the memories, but I know that once they come, there is no stopping them.
- My mother was killed by rogues when I was eight years old and Father was never the same again. But three years her death he met Sandy, she pulled him out of his depression.
- For some reason I never liked her and my gut feeling was right about her. Two years after they met, my Father no longer saw any of his friends and Sandy did everything she could to keep us away from him.
- Jayce was sixteen at the time and he couldn’t wait to get out of the house. So he joined our Pack’s Army and then it was just me and the two of them.
- Sandy convinced Father it would be good if I would join the Army as well, but there was one problem, I was too young.
- After that the arguments and fights started, day after day I would hear them shouting at one and other.
- Less than a year later Sandy left, she took everything my Father owned and a week later we buried him.
- I feel the anger building and I slam my fist in to the wall. It still hurts and it is the reason I avoid females, no matter how gorgeous they are.
- “She wouldn’t hurt us.”
- Nero says, but I am not too sure and I shut him out.
- Izzy’s P.O.V.
- I leave a note for my Father saying: Your secret is out. I will not be back, until I have answers. Don’t bother looking for me.
- I know he will understand what secret I am talking about.
- I leave the letter to Alpha Maddox on his desk before I slip out of the Pack-house. Stephan walks me to the border and on our way there he makes me promise him to contact him once every three months, if he doesn’t hear from me in time than he will warn our Alpha.
- After I promise him that I will contact him once every three months, he hands me a phone and tells me to stay in touch.
- I cross the border and start my search for answers. For a second I contemplate going by Jordan’s cottage, but I wouldn’t know what to say.
- And with the way he has been treading me, I doubt he wants to see me.
- Julian’s P.O.V.
- Telling Rico about my one night stand with Izzy’s mother was the best thing for me. It was a relief to tell someone the entire story.
- Alpha Maddox knew Izzy was the result of a one night stand. Rico now knows the truth and he is right, Izzy deserves to know the truth about her Mother and me.
- As I walk back to the Pack-house, I run in to Jordan, our Pack’s former Beta. I ask him if he has seen Izzy, he gives me a strange look and then he tells me she went home.
- I walk into the Pack-house and I peek into the kitchen and living room, looking for Izzy. She must be in our suite, because I don’t see her in her favorite places.
- I walk up the stairs and as I open the door, I call out her name. “Izzy.” But there is no answer.
- Maybe she is in her room, with her headphones on. So I open the door to her room, but it is empty.
- I stare at her bed and that is when I notice a piece of paper on the pillow. As I pick it up, I sit down on her bed and fold open the note. I lower my head to see what it says and for a second my heart stops beating.
- I link Rico and tell him I need to talk to him and Maddox.
- Maddox’s P.O.V.
- Rico linked me a moment ago that Julian needed to talk to the both of us, so I told him to come to my office.
- As I walk to my desk, I spot an envelope on my desk and I wonder who put it there. I don’t smell any other scents than my own and that of my Gamma, James.
- I open it and I let my eyes glide to the bottom of the paper, it is signed by Izzy. I quickly read the letter, there is a minimum written down and I realize she only left it so I would not break the Pack-bond.
- There is no reason mentioned for her departure, but it must be important.
- A knock on the door, pulls my attention from the letter. “Come in.” I say, the door opens and Rico and Julian walked in.
- Julian looks worried and I wonder if her letter might have something to do with it. Without a word he puts a note on my desk and sits down.
- I read the note and I now know that the note and letter are connected.
- “What secret is she talking about, Julian?” Julian looks at me and I give him time to make up his mind on whether or not he wants to tell me.
- He asks me if I remember that he accompanied me to a few Packs and Balls in search of my Mate. I nod my head, I had hoped he would find his Mate as well.
- After Julian is finished with his story, I slowly move the letter further under a folder. Even though I understand why Julian never told Izzy, I also know she deserves to find answers.
- I just wish Izzy had talked to me before taking off.
