Chapter 5 Counterattack

  • Gaston seemed to be playing around foolishly. He was jumping up and down in the front yard. His behavior was like that of a child who didn't understand the situation. Vivian, from inside the house, watched all of this from the window. In truth, she felt embarrassed and annoyed seeing her husband, whom she considered an idiot.
  • After a while, Vivian got up from the window and headed to her room. She checked her closet, looking for a dress that would be suitable for the Huber family gathering she was going to attend.
  • After a few minutes of searching, her eyes landed on an elegant black dress, adorned with sparkling crystals. The dress looked perfect, as if it had been designed just for her.
  • Vivian started preparing everything. She took the dress off the hanger and paired it with matching accessories. Then, she stepped into the bathroom to prepare a warm bath. Gently, she lowered herself into the tub, feeling the soothing warmth of the water.
  • Once she was done, she put on a bathrobe and stepped out of the bathroom, drying her hair with a towel. However, as she walked into her room, Vivian was startled to see Gaston already in there. "When did you come in?" she asked, a bit surprised.
  • "Just now," Gaston replied cheerfully, as if there was nothing odd about his sudden presence.
  • Vivian ignored his question and continued to her vanity, sitting in front of the mirror to dry her hair.
  • Gaston, still nearby, pretended to be shocked and started whining, "Why do you have to go there, Vivian?" His voice sounded childish, making Vivian sigh in annoyance.
  • "Be quiet, Gaston. Stop whining," Vivian replied firmly.
  • Gaston wasn't ready to give up. He came closer and grabbed Vivian's leg, pleading to join her. "I want to go!"
  • Vivian looked at him seriously, "No, Gaston. You'll just be ridiculed." She knew exactly what her mother had planned for tonight, and Vivian intended to handle it on her own.
  • Gaston insisted on going to the Huber family party. "But, Vivian, I want to go! I can behave!" he said, his eyes shining with excitement.
  • After a few minutes of debating, Vivian felt powerless. In this situation, she chose to give in, thinking it might be better if Gaston came along. "Alright, Gaston. You can come, but you have to promise to be calm and not act foolishly!"
  • Hearing the good news, Gaston jumped for joy, his face lighting up like a child who just got a new toy. "Yay! Thank you, Vivian!" He started running around the room, seemingly oblivious to the tension that had just been there. Vivian could only shake her head, forced to smile at her husband's excitement.
  • "Now, we need to get you ready," Vivian said, trying to shift the focus and set the mood. She went to the closet and picked out a neat blazer. "You have to wear this tonight," she said, holding the blazer out to Gaston.
  • Gaston took the blazer, his face showing delight and pride. "Wow, this is cool! I'm going to look like a prince!" he exclaimed.
  • Vivian just laughed at Gaston's antics.
  • However, she also knew that for her preparations tonight, she needed some peace. "Now, Gaston, you need to be quiet and not make a fuss. I need to focus on getting ready," she said, a bit firmly but gently. Gaston nodded, though he didn't fully understand, he tried to comply with Vivian's request.
  • Vivian returned to her vanity, arranging the dress and accessories she would wear.
  • As evening approached, Vivian was ready with her perfect look. She wore the black dress adorned with sparkling crystals, her hair styled neatly, and her makeup made her look elegant. However, in her busyness, she had completely forgotten about Gaston. Suddenly, she remembered and shouted, "Gaston!"
  • Vivian was shocked to see her husband already in a blazer. His appearance took her breath away. Gaston looked dashing and handsome, far from the silly image he usually portrayed. "Wow, you look amazing!" Vivian stammered, unable to believe her husband could look this good. A smile spread across her face, and her heart began to race.
  • But beneath his charming appearance, Gaston was acting like a child again. He bounced around excitedly, waving his arms as if to show the world how happy he was. Vivian sighed.
  • "Listen, Gaston," Vivian said firmly. "You need to be quiet and not talk throughout the party. You can only act if I tell you to."
  • Gaston nodded, obediently like a dog that understands commands. "Okay, Vivi!" he replied eagerly, although he didn't seem to fully grasp how serious the situation was.
  • They finally set off for the party. Vivian was driving, her mind swirling with thoughts about how everything would go.
  • Upon arriving at the Huber family residence, the atmosphere changed immediately. Vivian was greeted by Wilson Huber.
  • "Vivian! You look amazing tonight!" Wilson praised her with a wide smile.
  • Vivian gave a thin smile; she wasn't here to hear compliments but just to make her mother stop saying the same thing every day. 'Meet Wilson!'
  • "Well, unfortunately, you brought an unsuitable partner," Wilson teased, glancing at Gaston.
  • Gaston, standing next to Vivian, could have taken down the arrogant and spoiled man with just one move. However, to expose all their wrongdoing, he had to hold himself back from acting recklessly.
  • "Come on, Vivian! There's so much I want to show you!" Wilson said as he started to walk away.
  • Gaston was left behind, trying to keep up with Vivian. "Vivian, wait!" he shouted.
  • Suddenly, Rosaline appeared with Jonas.
  • "Mom!" Vivian was about to stop her mother from hurting Gaston.
  • Rosaline smiled sweetly. "You go ahead and enjoy your time with Wilson. Gaston, we'll take care of this."
  • "Come on, Vivian!" Wilson pulled her along. "As an old friend, there's a lot I want to talk to you about without that idiot getting in the way."
  • Vivian went along with Wilson to avoid causing a scene at the party.
  • Rosaline grabbed Gaston, clicking her tongue. "Let's step outside!"
  • "I want to be with Vivi!" Gaston yelled.
  • "Shut up, idiot!" Without giving Gaston a chance to explain, Jonas dragged him out.
  • Gaston could only grumble to himself. He was on the verge of losing control at Jonas's behavior this time.
  • With a smirk, Jonas ordered his bodyguard, "Get him as far away from here as possible!" he said, displaying an intimidating attitude.
  • Gaston was like a doll. The bodyguard easily lifted him, as if he were just a worthless object.
  • "Don't let him come back!" Jonas shouted, directing the bodyguard to take Gaston to a secluded spot. "Beat him until he's crippled!" he ordered firmly.
  • "Got it!" the bodyguard replied, taking Gaston away from the crowd.
  • Jonas smiled with satisfaction. He was sure this time Gaston would be left battered and bruised.
