Chapter 3 The Return of the Mother-in-Law

  • As soon as Garrick returned to Shaw Residence, he immediately sought out his father to complain, "Dad, I've been beaten. You must help me get revenge."
  • Looking at his beloved son, Johnson saw a few shallow scars on his face, and one hand tightly gripping the other. "Who hit you?"
  • "It was that b*tch Janice's husband," Garrick said angrily. "Not only did he hit me in the face, but he also broke one of my fingers. I want him to suffer a fate worse than death."
  • Upon hearing his reply, Johnson was also filled with rage. "Janice's husband? When did she get married?"
  • "Dad, you don't know. Today, she went to the City Hall to register with someone," Garrick quickly explained. "I went to Janice's house today to tell her about the arranged marriage with Mr. Quinn in three days. Who knew she would just randomly find someone to register with."
  • He added fuel to the fire as he continued, "They've started to treat each other as husband and wife, acting so in love. On top of it all, I got beaten by that b*tch's man."
  • "Who gave her the nerve to find someone and get registered?" Johnson slammed the table forcefully and shouted. "Doesn't she know that her marriage can only be decided by me?"
  • "Dad, that b*tch is too audacious. We must drive her out of the Shaw Family this time," Garrick said, but it seemed a bit redundant.
  • "I will handle this." Johnson quickly calmed down. "We must investigate and find out everything about that man. I want to see what kind of person he is."
  • "Dad, I've already sent someone to investigate on my way back," Garrick said proudly. "I believe we will have information soon."
  • "Well done," Johnson praised him.
  • "Dad, this guy is obviously just a security guard, and he's an orphan who has lived abroad for a few years," Garrick reported as soon as he received the information. "That b*tch Janice would rather marry a security guard than follow your arrangement.
  • "What's wrong with the Quinn Family? They are one of the top families in Deelton. She is so ungrateful.
  • "Although Sean is a bit arrogant, his status is undeniable. She's clearly going against us."
  • After reading Clinton's profile, Johnson was furious. "As a woman of the Shaw Family, why doesn't she think about the family?"
  • "Dad, that b*tch just found a random man as a shield," Garrick analyzed. "Otherwise, why would she marry such a low-status security guard? She was so proud before."
  • "Does she think a shield will work?" Johnson said. "I will make her life a living hell."
  • "Dad, how do we explain this to the Quinn Family?" Garrick asked again.
  • "Don't worry. This time, I will make her ruin her reputation with the help of the Quinn Family. She will marry Sean whether she wants to or not."
  • Johnson looked at Garrick. "Now, don't let anyone know about this. Keep a low profile. Go get your finger treated. Tomorrow is your great-grandmother's birthday, and we must not embarrass ourselves."
  • "Got it, Dad." After speaking, Garrick left.
  • Johnson paced around for a while, then picked up the phone and called Janice's parents.
  • Soon, Clinton and Janice returned to her house.
  • Although they had registered their marriage today, there was no celebration.
  • Originally, Clinton had thought of cooking a few dishes, but Janice directly refused. She really had no appetite.
  • Then, she went back to her room.
  • Clinton also prepared to go back to his room to rest.
  • As he opened the door, he found it full of clutter, clearly a storage room.
  • Among the clutter, he noticed many packages he had previously sent to Janice. These were gifts he had collected from around the world, valuable and meaningful.
  • Of course, they were sent anonymously.
  • However, most of the packages in front of him were unopened, even covered in a layer of dust.
  • Clinton didn't think much of it as this wasn't something he could decide.
  • These things now belonged to Janice. She had the right to make her choices.
  • Afterward, he opened another door and settled in.
  • The night passed without incident.
  • "Get up and have breakfast."
  • Janice hadn't slept well last night. Just as she was deeply drowsy, Clinton's call came from outside the door.
  • She felt an urge to throw a pillow at his head.
  • She didn't have to work today. Having had a poor night's sleep, she finally had a chance to sleep in, only to be disturbed by Clinton.
  • This thought made her furious. Why am I bringing him back to suffer?
  • At the dining table, Janice found that Clinton had prepared a rather sumptuous breakfast.
  • There was even a plate of steamed buns.
  • Importantly, those buns were her childhood favorite. She didn't expect Clinton to prepare them.
  • The buns held many beautiful memories for her, and the shop was near the villa area.
  • Unexpectedly, her beggar husband was quite thoughtful.
  • Janice's heart fluttered, and she glanced at Clinton.
  • "Today is my great-grandmother's ninetieth birthday," Janice told Clinton after breakfast. "You stay home today, or go out for a walk."
  • "I'll go with you," Clinton said without hesitation.
  • Janice looked into Clinton's deep eyes, thought for a moment, and agreed.
  • After all, their relationship was now a reality.
  • Besides, since Clinton had already clashed with Garrick yesterday, it was likely that her family members knew.
  • Given the situation, it was better to let Clinton meet them directly.
  • While Janice went to her room to change, Clinton rummaged around the storage room for a while.
  • Soon, Janice came out with light makeup and dressed casually.
  • It was said that a beautiful woman could never hide her outstanding figure and appearance, no matter what she wore.
  • At this moment, Janice exemplified this perfectly.
  • "What are you staring at?" Janice asked upon seeing Clinton staring at her. "If you're ready, let's go."
  • "Alright," Clinton replied casually.
  • The two then prepared to leave, but suddenly, a car pulled up outside the villa.
  • "My parents are back. It must be because Uncle Johnson complained to them." Upon seeing the car, Janice felt a sudden tension. "Don't say anything later, or my mom won't let you off."
  • "Okay, I won't say a word," Clinton replied.
  • A middle-aged woman, bearing a resemblance to Janice, stepped out of the car.
  • She was Janice's mother, Hilary Smith.
