Chapter 2 Legal Wife

  • Later, Clinton founded the Deity of the East, a name that struck fear around the globe.
  • His assets were spread worldwide, including several private islands.
  • He had no idea how much money he had, likely trillions.
  • The officially recognized wealth of the world's richest person was insignificant compared to his.
  • When people met him, they had to bow and show respect.
  • He had many identities, but whenever the "Deity of the East" was mentioned, everyone looked up to him.
  • And it was that meal of buns that made him never forget the kind girl.
  • This time, his subordinates happened to see Janice's marriage advertisement, so he hurried back from out of town.
  • Fortunately, everything aligned perfectly.
  • Just then, a red Ferrari sports car pulled up outside the villa.
  • Screech—
  • A young man stepped out of the car. His hair parted on both sides, and his eyes were shifty, resembling a traitor.
  • "Janice, have you thought about what I told you?" The man, showing no politeness, walked into the villa and sprawled on the couch while questioning Janice.
  • This man was none other than Garrick Shaw, the eldest son of the Shaw Family and the future head of the family.
  • "Are you done? You come here every few days with the same questions," Janice retorted, clearly nervous. "I won't agree to it."
  • Garrick hadn't expected such a direct refusal from Janice, who usually negotiated.
  • Today, she outright rejected him.
  • What's going on with her today?
  • "Whether you agree or not, the decision about your marriage to Sean rests with Dad and me."
  • Garrick stood up and raised three fingers at Janice. "In three days, prepare for your wedding with Sean. We've already discussed it with the Quinn Family. They're just waiting for you to get married."
  • "Garrick, why don't you go die? When did my marriage become something for you and Dad to decide?" Janice shouted in anger, nearly in tears.
  • "Janice, why be so stubborn?" Garrick was unfazed by her anger. "The Quinn Family is rich, powerful, and prestigious. Many women would die to marry Sean. Dad and I went to great lengths to find you a good match, and you don't appreciate it?"
  • "If you want to marry him, you do it yourself."
  • Janice had enough of dealing with Garrick and was about to leave.
  • Standing by, Clinton was seething inside as the Shaw Family was trying to force his wife to marry someone else.
  • He would never allow that to happen.
  • Janice could only be his wife.
  • The Quinn Family was simply asking for trouble by trying to coerce his woman.
  • Upon seeing Janice's anger and helplessness, Clinton stepped forward and asked, "Are you okay?"
  • His words made Janice even more anxious. She feared Garrick might target him.
  • Meanwhile, upon noticing Clinton for the first time, Garrick was also surprised.
  • He had been so focused on confronting Janice that he hadn't realized there was another man in the room.
  • "Who is he?" he asked.
  • Janice knew there was no hiding this from Garrick. The Shaw Family would find out eventually.
  • As one of the prestigious families, the Shaw Family was eager to curry favor with the Quinn Family through her marriage to Sean.
  • Sean had a strong possessive desire for Janice. He had even declared to beat anyone who approached her.
  • Janice despised Sean, leading her to devise this plan.
  • A "done deal" would force the issue.
  • She believed that once she was married, her family wouldn't turn against her. Even if they did, she could leave the family.
  • Just as she was about to respond, Clinton abruptly said, "I'm her husband."
  • "What? You're her husband?"
  • Garrick, seeing no denial from Janice, was furious as he glared at her. "Janice, how dare you! Have you considered the consequences? You've disgraced the Shaw Family. What's wrong with Sean? You chose a beggar-like man as a shield. Do you think that will work?"
  • Garrick's goal was to marry Janice to Sean, which would elevate the Shaw Family's status in Deelton and solidify his future position as the head of the family.
  • Nevertheless, Janice's actions today had shattered his plans.
  • "The Quinn Family has offered a dowry of a hundred million and even a company for you to manage. Instead, you marry some random guy. You‘re a shameless b*tch!”
  • Garrick stepped forward and raised his hand to slap Janice.
  • Slap!
  • A clear sound echoed, but it was Garrick's face that turned red and swollen instead of Janice's.
  • The one who struck was Clinton.
  • Garrick was knocked to the ground by Clinton's slap.
  • Both Garrick and Janice were stunned as someone actually dared to hit Garrick.
  • "You…"
  • Garrick was terrified, his face turning pale. He wanted to kill Clinton.
  • "Why did you hit Garrick?" Janice finally spoke. "Do you know the consequences?"
  • "I don't care about the consequences," Clinton told Janice. "I hit him because he disrespected you."
  • "You hit him for that?"
  • "Yes, because you're my wife," Clinton said seriously. "Anyone who disrespects my wife deserves to be hit."
  • Janice's mind buzzed.
  • She stared at Clinton, not expecting him to hit someone for her.
  • He hit Garrick, the eldest grandson and future head of the Shaw Family, all because she was about to become his wife.
  • "You… How dare you hit me?" Garrick stood up and pointed at Clinton. "Do you know the consequences?"
  • Without a word, Clinton grabbed Garrick's finger and bent it backward until it snapped.
  • Crack!
  • "Ah!" A scream rang out.
  • "Shut up!" Clinton glared at Garrick, his eyes terrifying. "Do you want me to shut you up?"
  • Now, Garrick believed he would do it. Or else, his face wouldn't be swollen, and his finger wouldn't be broken.
  • "Get out!"
  • "Janice, how dare you keep a gigolo as a shield!" Garrick retreated in panic while shouting. "I won't let you off, and the Quinn Family won't either. You'll regret this. I'll make sure you die."
  • He then left the villa and drove away.
  • It took a while for Janice to regain her composure, but she said nothing.
  • Clinton then said, "Let's go. We need to register at the City Hall before they close."
  • He pulled Janice along, not waiting for her response. He feared the bureau would close, and he'd lose her.
  • At 5:05 p.m., they exited the City Hall.
  • Clinton beamed as his long-cherished dream was achieved.
  • Meanwhile, Janice looked dazed. She was still processing the day's events.
  • She had no idea what the future held, but she knew one thing—she was now married.
  • She became Clinton's legal wife.
