Chapter 40

• Xolo anxiously paced back and forth outside the emergency room, his heart heavy with worry. Beside him, Kevin sat on a wooden bench, his small frame tense and restless, his eyes fixed on the ground. Chelsea had been in the emergency room for over thirty minutes and they had yet to receive any information about her. Plus, Liam was also in there with the doctor.
• Kevin glanced at Xolo, searching for the right words to break the silence. “I know you're upset right now, and probably think this is my fault but I swear this had nothing to do with me. It's simply an unfortunate accident.”
• Xolo's head shot up, his eyes blazing with anger. "An accident? How can you say that, Kevin? It's your fault she got hurt in the first place!"
