• Chelsea swallowed hard, dropping her handbag on the chair before steadying her mind. She took a bite from the food, startling Jessica, who stared in disappointment. Trey had reported to her yesterday that Scarlett had a ginger allergy similar to Chelsea's, and there have been no records of her beyond five years ago, including the identity of her son's father. Though Jessica thought it was absurd, she felt a connection to Chelsea and was certain Scarlett was hiding something.
• “It's so delicious,” Chelsea smiled, dropping the spoon on the plate. She felt a burn inside but maintained composure.
• Liam returned her smile, took a bite, and nodded in agreement. “Quite good,” he said, his eyes fixated on Chelsea, who was trying hard to hide her discomfort.
