• As Damian stepped into his room, his thoughts were a mess, his head too loud to think straight. But when he saw Aurora sitting on his bed, looking up at him with her big, questioning eyes, everything in him froze. She looked nervous, but her voice was calm when she asked, “Are you okay?”
• He didn’t answer. He couldn’t. Words weren’t enough, not tonight. He just stepped closer, his boots heavy on the floor, his eyes locked on hers. She didn’t move. She stayed there, watching, waiting for him to make the next move.
