Chapter 6

  • Xavier fumed as he walked towards the maid’s wing, it was late in the night and the few maids still awake scurried out of his presence till he arrived at the biggest room in the maid’s wing, he slammed the door opened -not bothering to knock and Lillian his senior and oldest maid jumped out of her bed in panic.
  • No sleep for the wicked.
  • He had lied to Amelia, he did not threat women like he did men, he would never raise his hands on a woman, he wish he could, because tonight would have been his first.
  • He pinned the now panicked woman to the wall- not at all a romantic scene.
  • “What did you call my wife?” he yelled, rage almost blinding him. Only him could maltreat his wife, he only could tell her what to do, it was a slap to his face- what the maid did to his wife, a fucking maid. What gave her that audacity?
  • “I didn’t call her.... I didn’t insult her.... I’m being truthful....” she stammered.
  • Lies.
  • “Pack your things and get out of my house, if I ever see you again, I. Will. Kill. You” he said and tear gushed from her eyes, they didn’t make him pity her though.
  • Tears, tears. Can’t they just keep it together, women.
  • “I have no place to go, I have no life except here, I’ve worked here for twenty years, please, I beg you” she pleaded
  • Oh, so now you know, you didn’t know you have no place to go when you were talking crap. Actions had consequences.
  • Xavier passed a hand through his hair, rage made him feel like pulling it out. If it were someone else, if it wasn’t the woman that raised him up since he was seven, he would have not only fired the person, he would make the defaulter’s life a living hell.
  • “You’re demoted to a cleaner, the lowest there is, you dare not come close to my wife, you dare not make her uncomfortable, any bad report she sends me next would land you in jail- and you know I don’t joke, I’m very much capable of making your life a living hell and enjoying it all.” He said and walked out of her room even before she could reply.
  • *****
  • Xavier sat in his bar, a glass of Vodka in his hands, his two best friend- most trusted friends actually- Blake and Shawn sitting beside him.
  • Shawn was the funny and bright type, and he was among the few Xavier had to his wedding with Amelia, but Blake stood as his best man.
  • He truly loved Shawn- as a junior brother as he was about four years older than him, although Shawn was always to ... jokey.
  • But,
  • When the time came to be serious- very serious, he could actually be.
  • Then Blake on the other side is like the complete opposite of Shawn, if Shawn was bright, then he was darkness, Blake rarely talked to anyone except the conversation was as important as death itself, he rarely smiled, in fact Xavier could count the times he had seen Blake smile, his loyalty was to Xavier and Shawn who he saw as brothers and the best of all his qualities is that he killed without a second thought, he was actually a year older than Xavier.
  • “Won’t you go meet wifey? She must be waiting” Shawn said wiggling his full eyebrow, he could be cute, but he can better be seen as beautiful- not handsome, he was a mix of cute and hot which made him beautiful, he wasn’t the typical all-muscular type that many girls dreamed about, he was rather the type that could play as a fairy prince and Blake could play as an Alpha of a werewolf pack – he was handsome, but Blake gave off this ‘keep off’ vibes that made girls only admire from afar- very far.
  • Blake reminded Xavier of a movie character ‘The Terminator’- a more handsome and younger version though.
  • “Do you know she actually cried and begged when I wanted to fuck her- like damn, I didn’t sign up for a cry baby and I thought I’ll be getting a 24/7” Xavier responded
  • Shawn smirked.
  • “Well, guess your charm is fading. Anyway, can I ask you a question?” Shawn didn’t wait for Xavier's response before asking the question. Typical.
  • “What’s is your plan with Amelia, surely you don’ want to live the baby locked up all her life, she could go nuts and I’m talking from experience” he said sounding dramatic
  • “And what experience is that” Xavier questioned
  • “When I was little my brother locked me up in my room, I believe I went nuts”
  • “Oh, so how long did he lock you up?”
  • “Very long, about thirty four minutes, fifteen mini-minutes, ten seconds and three nano seconds”
  • “That’s sounds like a huge lot of time”
  • “I almost died, I remember the spots of black dancing around my visions”
  • “Could’ve been your hair ya’ known”
  • “Yeah, it could have been, now you’ve said it maybe that was what it was, I pictured it as death itself, coming to hug me and take me away to a faraway land”
  • “Real dramatic Shawn, I wonder why I still hang out with you”
  • “Maybe is the fact that you’re boring and I’m super funny, or the fact that you suck and I don’t” “So are you willing to free the princess?” Shawn questioned. Xavier had thought he had successfully changed the topic.
  • “I actually changed my mind...”
  • “Does the second work any better” Shawn asked
  • “What?”
  • “You said you changed your mind, does the second work any better... Gosh you are just like a rock- in strength and in reasoning” Shawn shook his head feigning pity.
  • “Which side are you actually on” Xavier asked incredulous, since Amelia arrived, Shawn had turned twice the baby- especially in anything that has to do with her.
  • “I know what is it you fear, you fear love – but you really have nothing to fear”
  • Xavier tried to hide his smile.
  • “Seriously Shawn, I envy people who have never met you”
  • “The same, my man, the feeling is mutual, I remember times that I look at you and wish I could just meet you again- for the first time... and walk past you, but we don’t always get what we wish”
  • There was no point arguing with Shawn, the argument just might never end.
  • “Do you know that Lillian had been threatening my wife” Xavier said absentmindedly
  • “Tell me you kicked her old ass out of this place- I always disliked her”
  • It was true; Shawn didn’t like Lillian at all, even one bit.
  • “Well I demoted her back to level one, the shame is enough punishment”
  • “How did you even find out? That she was threatening your wife I mean”
  • “Amelia gave me the clue, she actually thinks that I specifically allowed that to humiliate her”
  • “Well we can’t blame the poor girl now can we?” Shawn said shaking his head dramatically, Xavier ignored his comment and continued
  • “I met a maid and got the whole story- picture perfect from her, yah know, money moves mountains”
  • “I thought it was faith that moved mountains?” Shawn questioned and Xavier growled
  • “Okay wolfy, I get, but I think you should go closer to your wife and how would she seat all day locked up?” Shawn asked and Xavier saw genuine care in Shawn’s eyes and wondered if he should be keeping his wife away from Shawn, but actually he didn’t care what his wife did, she could fuck who ever she wanted to fuck and he wouldn’t give a damn- but oh’ he would return the favour.
  • Shawn stood dramatically, “I’m not taking this anymore, you have to free her, stop caging her like an animal!” he said as he kicked the chair he had just been seating on a while ago to cement his point- well, the chair was made of thick iron so the outcome was...
  • “Ouch”
  • “So as I was saying” Shawn said flexing his foot, “you better do something about wifey or I would” he finished raising his voice dramatically.
  • “Okay Shawn, what do you think I do for her?” Xavier asked surprising Shawn who was not ready to win the argument this so easily.
  • “Oh”, “Maybe you could hmm” “Maybe you could, you know...”
  • He trailed off.
  • “I received a threat note” Blake, who was so silent, it was easy to forget he was in the room said and he immediately picked the attention of the rest.
  • That’s the thing about those who talk less- everyone knows that when they speak, it must be a thing of dire need.
  • “Turns out the warehouse in Indonesia we invaded didn’t only belong to the Italian Mafia, a portion- a huge portion belonged to the Russians’, the threat letter said we have two options, give them their stuff or risk starting a war” Blake finished.
  • “Shefung gave us faulty information, that mother fucker” Xavier cursed
  • “I got it!” Shawn called out, “Bring wifey to start working in the company! Isn’t that a brilliant idea?” Shawn exclaimed like had had found the cure to some worldwide pandemic.
  • “Shawn, were talking business here” Xavier said weakly
  • “Your first priority should be your wife not some business, is not like you had any brilliant idea on that dull mind of yours”
  • “Shawn please could you kindly wait your turn, the adults are speaking”
  • “Oops, was that comment supposed to annoy me? Cause the only thing annoying me right now is your face” Shawn said and Xavier gave up.
  • Shawn: 1000 points Xavier: 0 point
