Chapter 3 Accenting Insults
- The woman suddenly appeared, wore a tight-fitting dress that accentuated her perfect figure. Her heavy makeup and shoulder-length wavy brown hair made her look stunningly beautiful.
- Behind her stood a man wearing glasses, his face resembling Wilson's but not as handsome. His eyes appeared gloomy, making those who looked at him uncomfortable.
- These two individuals were Johny zoha, Wilson's brother, and Yohanna Yostin, Wilson's sister-in-law.
- Wilson quickly furrowed his eyebrows and forced a casual smile. "Yes, it's unexpected to see you so soon, sister-in-law. I heard you were on vacation in Hawaii just two days ago. I didn't expect you to return so quickly upon hearing about Grandpa's condition."
- Yohanna yostin narrowed her eyes, comprehending the implications of Wilson's words. However, she attempted to maintain a composed demeanor and shifted her gaze towards Joyce, who stood beside Wilson. Joyce wore a sarcastic smile on her lips.
- The reputation of the Zoha company's second son for engaging with numerous women, all of whom were renowned beauties, made it all the more surprising that he ended up marrying a woman with a rustic appearance and unattractive features.
- "I now understand why our little sister refrained from enjoying her first night. It seems it's all because..." Yohanna placed her hands on her slender waist, approached Joyce, and whispered a sentence in a feigned voice, audible to both Joyce and Wilson, "Marrying an unattractive woman."
- Upon finishing her statement, Yohanna chuckled with satisfaction.
- Johny, standing behind Yohanna, remained silent and allowed his wife to act as she pleased.
- Although Joyce lacked intelligence, she could clearly perceive the strained relationship within the Wilson family. However, she wondered why they involved her in their cold war.
- Furthermore, the woman before him had deliberately insulted his physique!
- Memories of Alicia, her former best friend, insulting her physique resurfaced in Joyce's mind. She felt a wave of sadness and the urge to cry due to their bullying. Her body began to tremble uncontrollably, and her sobs were on the verge of escaping when she felt a warm and gentle hand tightly embracing her shoulders.
- In that moment, Wilson's expression underwent a drastic change. He appeared discontented and no longer indifferent. He couldn't fathom why Yohanna's insult towards Joyce had affected him negatively.
- "Sister, everyone has different preferences, and I have no interest in a woman like you with a wealth of experience."
- As Wilson uttered those words, Yohanna's expression immediately changed, and Johny, standing behind her, grew increasingly grim.
- Yohanna was about to defend herself when Johny stepped forward to intervene. "That's enough. Let's go inside and check on Grandpa's condition."
- After speaking, Johny took Yohanna's hand and led her into their grandfather's room. Before leaving, Yohanna cast a final sarcastic glance at Joyce.
- Once the two had departed, Joyce breathed a sigh of relief. She then realized that she had been leaning against Wilson's body. Blushing, she quickly pushed him away.
- Unprepared for the sudden push, Wilson found it amusing and remarked, "Performing good deeds brings no rewards. I only helped you, yet you pushed me away."
- "Hmph, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have been insulted like this. You should have helped me," Joyce replied, her tone lacking appreciation for Wilson's assistance. However, deep down, she was genuinely grateful. In truth, Wilson had no obligation to defend her during the incident, and it was expected for her to endure the insults, as they had no emotional connection.
- Joyce fell silent for a moment before softly uttering, "Thank you."
- By that time, Wilson had already left and reached the exit of Honder Hospital. In the moonlight, his back appeared resolute and gentle.
- He smiled with contentment, even though he had heard Joyce's words. However, he pretended not to hear and asked, "Hmm?"
- Although Joyce couldn't be bothered to repeat herself, she raised her voice and said, "Thank you."
- Yet, due to Joyce's lack of control over her volume, her voice resonated loudly, triggering Wilson's car alarm.
- Wilson tightly sealed his lips. Joyce's resistance had caught him off guard.
- Finally, at midnight, the two arrived at their new home, a luxurious house in an upscale neighborhood that Wilson had recently purchased.
- Upon entering the house, Joyce immediately realized her mistake. She had chosen and entered the smaller room, and now she addressed Wilson, saying, "Um, Wilson, from today onwards, I will sleep in this room. The larger master bedroom is for you."
- Frowning, Wilson remained silent. He simply placed his laptop on the bed and declared, "I will sleep here."
- Thinking that Wilson wanted to share a bed with her, Joyce's face flushed. "Didn't you just say that I don't have to fulfill my duties as a wife properly? Our marriage is merely a formality!"
- "Don't misunderstand. I meant that I will sleep here, and you can choose where you want to sleep," Wilson clarified. He unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt, an action that appeared casual yet alluring.
- Awkwardly, Joyce lowered her head and said, "There's no need. You are the owner of this house, so I should sleep in the smallest room."
- "I am a man, and you are a woman," Wilson asserted dominantly, unwilling to be denied. "I don't want the two of us to argue over such a trivial matter, or you do this just want to sleep with me?"
