Chapter 1 Betrayed On The Wedding Day
- "Joyce, I'm sorry, but I cannot marry you." In the wedding hall, in front of the smiling bride, Joyce Albert, Dicky Johnson words echoed, devoid of any emotion.
- Instantly, Joyce felt as if cold water had been poured over her head, chilling her to the core.
- She stared at the man in front of her, disbelief etched on her face. After a few seconds, she mustered a forced smile and said, "Dicky, you must be joking, right? The wedding is about to begin."
- "I'm not joking. I'm serious," Dicky replied, his gaze sharp and devoid of any humor.
- Joyce had been dating Dicky for five years. She could discern the truth or falsehood in his words simply by looking into his eyes.
- Her hands fell limply to her sides, as if she had exhausted all her strength in her attempt to hold back the tears.
- "Dicky, can you please tell me the reason? Why?" Joyce bit her lip.
- Dicky did not answer Joyce question. Instead, it was Alicia Ben, who had congratulated her on her impending marriage just ten minutes ago and was also Joyce good friend, who provided the answer.
- Alicia Ben, elegantly walking towards her in her 10cm high red heels, her made-up face bearing a mocking expression, said, "Why? Joyce , perhaps you cannot see it, but Dicky has never loved you from the beginning. Can't you see how unsophisticated you are? How can a man like Dicky love someone like you? The person Dicky loves is me."
- A loud "Boom" reverberated in Joyce mind.
- What were Dicky and Alicia discussing? Joyce couldn't comprehend a single word they were saying.
- Joyce and Dicky had been together since high school. Joyce had given up her pre-arranged job and chosen to fight alongside Dicky. She had even given him all her savings. She had sacrificed her own needs and desires, settling for a lower quality of life. She had even given up on beauty treatments. It hadn't been easy, but they had finally found a way, and Dicky had achieved his dream of becoming the chief manager at Damian Company. So why was he now saying he didn't want to be with Joyce anymore? And why did her good friend, Alicia, become his girlfriend?
- Joyce shook her head vigorously, unable to accept this reality.
- "No, it's not possible. You two must be lying to me, right?" Joyce said as she walked towards Dicky, her hand reaching out to touch his.
- But before her hand could reach Dicky's shirt, a glass of red wine was splashed onto her head, drenching her entire body.
- Alicia held the empty glass of red wine, her expression wicked. "Joyce, if you have any self-respect left, leave this place immediately and never come near Dicky again, from this moment on."
- Joyce was shocked to see her wedding gown soaked and stained with red wine. Her eyes and heart ached at the sight of the red stain on her gown. This gown had taken her over a year to save up for, and now it was treated like worthless trash by the very people she loved the most.
- Those who didn't appreciate her gown were none other than the man she loved the most and her own best friend.
- Joyce lowered her head, closed her eyes, and with a trembling voice, she said, "Fine, fine, fine! I, Joyce Albert, have truly been blind to have associated myself with beasts like you. Listen carefully, I curse both of you to never find happiness!"
- With those words, Joyce ran out of the building, leaving Dicky and Alicia behind.
- On the bustling main road, countless people and cars passed by.
- With her mind in chaos, Joyce haphazardly entered a car and, in a low voice, said to the driver, "Take me anywhere and leave this place immediately!"
- She waited for the driver's response for a few minutes but received no answer, neither a yes nor a no.
- Joyce was on the verge of exploding in anger when she suddenly realized that the atmosphere around her was different.
- This car was not an ordinary taxi. The interior exuded luxury and spaciousness, and the seats were incredibly comfortable and plush. At first glance, it was evident that this was no ordinary vehicle!
- And sitting next to her was a man.
- Joyce was instantly rendered speechless, realizing that her scattered thoughts had led her to board the wrong car.
- She awkwardly glanced at the man sitting beside her. The first thing that caught her attention was his dark gray suit and his long legs. From his legs up to his upper body, Joyce could see a face and physique that were nearly perfect.
- The man's face was flawlessly sculpted, with sharp and beautiful features. His skin was fair and smooth, and his entire body exuded an air of extraordinariness.
- At this moment, the man's deep black eyes were fixed on Joyce, scrutinizing her every move.
- Joyce's heart felt as if it might leap out of her chest. She couldn't tear her gaze away from his captivating face.
- Then, in a cold voice, the man's words reached her ears, "It's not often that a woman comes before me and surrenders herself into my embrace, but someone like you, who dares to enter my car, is a rarity."
- The man's gaze lingered on Joyce's wedding gown. "Ah, how fitting that you're wearing a wedding gown as you approach me."
- Upon hearing the man's words, Joyce regained her composure. She refused to accept his assumptions and pursed her lips. "Don't speak so recklessly. I accidentally got into the wrong car."
- The man didn't believe Joyce's explanation. He folded his hands and observed her closely.
- To be honest, Joyce's heavy makeup did not enhance her beauty in the slightest. Instead, it accentuated her flaws, making her appear unattractive. Her face looked truly unappealing, but her figure was not. Her curves were clearly visible, especially her exposed chest.
- The man couldn't help but glance at that area several times.
- Seeing the man's gaze fixated on an inappropriate area, Joyce's face flushed with anger. She glared at him, her voice heavy with resentment. "You pervert!" she exclaimed, planning to open the car door and get out.
- But before the door could open, it automatically locked from the inside.
- Joyce panicked, covering her chest. "What do you want to do?"
- "Why? Do you want to play with me? You entered so willingly, and now you want to leave just as easily?" The man smiled, but his voice carried a chilling tone.
- "I told you it wasn't like that. I really got into the wrong car!" Joyce rolled her eyes, unable to stop herself from thinking that all handsome men acted so ignorant and self-confident.
- As soon as she finished speaking, the man's chin seemed to be lifted, and a white hand was seen tightly holding her chin. The man stared intently at Joyce's face before saying, "In this manner, your face meets the requirements of the elders in my family. It is quite fitting for you to be wearing a wedding gown. In my generosity, I am willing to propose to you."
