Chapter 2 Remarried

  • The reflection in the mirror reveals a woman adorned in a long wedding gown, with her neck and collarbones delicately exposed. Her hair is elegantly styled in a high bun, covered by a traditional white bridal headpiece. Today, her appearance exudes grace and sophistication.
  • Joyce Albert forced a smile, and the woman in the mirror finally displayed a slightly more radiant expression than before.
  • Following that day, Joyce Albert officially became Wilson Zoha prospective wife.
  • Wilson Zoha, the second son of the Zoha company, comes from a prominent and well-known family. However, he has failed to uphold the family name, earning a reputation as a useless son. His infidelity and numerous affairs with women are widely known.
  • Prior to the incident, Joyce had mistakenly entered Wilson's car. At that time, Wilson had received news of his seriously ill grandfather, Edi Zoha. As his grandfather's favorite grandson, Wilson's grandfather was deeply concerned and desired for Wilson to settle down, get married, and start a family. He hoped that Wilson would cease his promiscuous behavior with numerous women.
  • His grandfather held more traditional and simplistic views, disapproving of Wilson's involvement with women who wore heavy makeup. He preferred women who were plain and came from modest backgrounds, believing that such relationships would be long-lasting. Additionally, Wilson would not have to worry about his wife having an affair or betraying him.
  • Initially, Wilson was stressed and unsure of where to find a woman who matched his grandfather's preferences. Suddenly, Joyce appeared and fit the bill perfectly.
  • Despite Joyce's heavily made-up face and inexpensive attire, she met his grandfather's requirements for a woman with a simple appearance. Even her wedding dress looked cheap, fulfilling his grandfather's desire for a daughter-in-law from an ordinary family. From the moment Joyce entered his car, Wilson noticed her eyes, which were clean and radiant. He believed that someone with such eyes must come from a simple and uncomplicated family.
  • Everything aligned with his grandfather's wishes.
  • Therefore, Wilson finally made his intentions known and proposed to Joyce.
  • As for why Joyce accepted Wilson's proposal, it was because she already knew about Wilson's status as the second son of the prominent financial company, Zoha. Joyce had no desire for fame, but she understood that the company where her colleague Dicky worked, Damian, was under the control of the Zoha company. The fate of Damian was in the hands of the Zoha company, making it insignificant compared to Zoha company. By becoming the daughter-in-law of Zoha company, Joyce could seek revenge on Dicky and Alicia, stepping on them with ease.
  • Both parties had their own plans, and everything was outlined in the contract. They agreed to this marriage, which was merely a formality. After marriage, they would have no right to interfere in each other's affairs, as long as they didn't cross any boundaries. Life would continue as usual.
  • Joyce exhaled in front of the mirror, lifting her long wedding dress as she prepared to leave.
  • Inside the hall, twinkling lights adorned the streets as the groom, Wilson Zoha, held the hand of the bride, Joyce Albert, and walked towards the podium.
  • Joyce didn't invite her best friend or even inform her parents about the wedding. The female guests were noticeably absent, and Wilson didn't want a bustling and excited atmosphere either. He only invited the oldest family members, excluding any outsiders.
  • The entire wedding seemed rigid, as the two of them rarely touched or communicated with each other. They were strangers who only knew each other's names, and nothing else mattered.
  • Finally, around 8pm, the wedding ceremony concluded.
  • Joyce took a deep breath and exhaled. Initially, she had planned to think things through and quickly fall asleep, but Wilson took her to the city of Athens, specifically to an elite private hospital called Honder Hospital.
  • In the VVIP room, a pale, white-haired old man lay on the hospital bed, his eyes half-closed as if he could fall asleep at any moment. However, he fought to keep his eyes open.
  • "Wilson, Wilson, is this my daughter-in-law?" the old man asked.
  • This time, Wilson's expression appeared gentle, devoid of annoyance or mischief.
  • "Yes, grandfather. We just finished the wedding and came straight here. How do you like her? Do you approve?" Wilson replied.
  • Upon hearing Wilson's words, Joyce stepped forward and gently held the old man's fragile hands. Before entering the hospital, she and Wilson had planned to present themselves in a positive light to the grandfather.
  • Joyce had initially intended to put on a casual act, but upon seeing the old man's face, she couldn't help but be reminded of her late grandmother. From her eyes, it was evident that she genuinely cared for the grandfather in front of her.
  • "Grandfather, I am your daughter-in-law," Joyce said with a gentle smile. Her heart couldn't bear to see the grandfather's condition, and she wholeheartedly grasped his hands.
  • Wilson, standing beside Joyce, observed her expression, trying to determine if she was being genuine or not.
  • Suddenly, a sharp sound broke the silence.
  • "Well, well, isn't this my sister-in-law? Wow, my sister-in-law is so obedient. Instead of spending the first night together, you came here to visit grandfather," a young woman exclaimed.
