Chapter 6 Ungrateful Child
- "The answer is simple: appearance," Sebastian replied coldly, then whispered to the elderly woman, "I still have some matters to attend to. I’ll have Jasper accompany you there."
- The corners of Adriana's mouth curled slightly as she watched this show with happiness, but she quickly suppressed her laughter. Turning to Olivia, she said with a pitiful expression, “Sis, have I done something wrong again?”
- Provoked by her timid demeanor, Olivia immediately lashed out impulsively at Sebastian. "What does Young Master Kingsley mean by this?"
- “It means you’re ugly.” His gaze was as sharp as a knife when it landed on her face, and his voice was so cold that it could freeze someone to death. "Since when did the Hudson family's authority get taken over by a little girl?"
- Adriana almost burst out laughing, but at the same time, she felt that something wasn’t quite right.
- In her previous life, Sebastian had loved Olivia deeply, and to make her happy, he had helped her become a talented singer who had won many awards. However, whether it was the lyrics, the composition, or the singing, it had all come from Adriana.
- Her new life had just begun, and it was hard to believe that things could change so drastically in such a short time.
- “Young Master Kingsley, please don’t be angry.” Raymond's face immediately turned pale, and he quickly apologized, “Olivia is still young and doesn’t know how to distinguish between right and wrong, so please don’t take her behavior to heart.”
- Sebastian looked at him expressionlessly, and his voice grew even colder. "I will take it to heart and make a fuss about it."
- Raymond’s body started to tremble, and he glared at Olivia angrily before explaining with a forced smile, "The bond between these two siblings is very close. Olivia is just worried about her younger sister; that's why she lashed out impulsively."
- Margaret also chimed in, "This decision was too sudden. Olivia had no other intentions."
- "How uncultured." Madam Kingsley’s expression was quite unpleasant. She sat back down in her chair and picked up her teacup from the coffee table. "Bastian, go and take care of your own business. I’ll handle the matter here.”
- "Alright." Sebastian nodded and gave Adriana a playful glance before walking away.
- Raymond and Margaret quickly looked at each other, their faces alternating between green and pale.
- Would this matter really end like this?
- "Let’s forget about what I promised you earlier." Madam Kingsley took a sip of her tea and put the cup back on the table before turning her gaze to Adriana, who looked lost. “Child, what kind of compensation do you want?”
- Although the marriage wouldn’t happen, this girl was very pleasing to the eyes and well-mannered too. She couldn’t let her suffer a loss.
- Adriana pretended to hesitate as she looked at Raymond and his wife, and then looked at Olivia as if she were in a difficult situation.
- Olivia was so worried that she didn’t want her face anymore. Before Adriana could say anything, she interjected, "Grandmother, are you really not going to reconsider? I was born at the same time as Adriana, just a minute apart."
- Madam Kingsley frowned. "Sebastian already said you’re ugly."
- Olivia: "..."
- Raymond and Margaret desperately wished they could shut Olivia’s mouth and tighten their nerves as they looked at Adriana.
- Since the elderly woman had asked, whatever compensation she would offer was surely not going to be small.
- Adriana observed all their expressions and then suddenly broke into a wide smile. "Grandmother, I don’t need any compensation."
- Considering Madam Kingsley wouldn’t help the Hudson family out of their troubles, she certainly wouldn’t help them either. Besides, this was the predicament she had wanted.
- She just didn’t understand why Sebastian had rejected the arrangement. They had clearly slept together just a few hours ago, so she had assumed he was okay with it.
- “Very well, then.” Madam Kingsley stood up with an indifferent expression and signaled to Jasper, who had been waiting by the door, to leave.
- Raymond quickly accompanied the elderly woman to the door with a fawning smile and then returned to the living room. He looked at Adriana with a dark expression, wishing he could tear her apart into a thousand pieces! “What is wrong with you? Do you know how important the Kingsley family’s support is to us?!”
- Adriana pretended to be hurt, and her eyes quickly reddened, but inside, she was sneering. Of course, she knew how important the Kingsley family's support was to the Hudson family.
- Regency Crest Enterprises was on the verge of bankruptcy, so rather than calling the act of sending her to the Kingsley family an act of goodwill, it was more accurate to call it a transaction. Or to put it more bluntly, selling her for their own gain.
- In her third year with the Kingsley family, after Sebastian had survived his calamity, his parents had begun pressuring him to find a suitable marriage partner. And after all the scheming and manipulation from Olivia, along with the help of the Hudson family, they had eventually accepted Olivia into the family.
- Adriana's eyes suddenly turned cold. Just wait, she would make them pay for what they owed her sooner or later!
- "I’ve raised you for nothing!" Margaret stood up angrily and went to slap Adriana’s face. "Why didn’t you just die when you were out there?!"
- Adriana tilted her head to the side to avoid the slap. She pretended to be shocked and threw herself into Olivia’s arms. "Sis, quickly save me!"
- Margaret became even angrier. Just as she was about to slap Adriana again, Jasper suddenly came in and coldly reminded them. "This matter must not be spread outside. If we hear even the slightest hint about it from anyone..."
- He didn’t finish his sentence because the warning was clear enough.
- "We understand," Raymond said with a smile, and Margaret reluctantly pulled her hand back in disappointment.
- It was unclear whether Jasper’s arrival was to save Adriana or not, but it still helped her, as Margaret stopped attacking her.
