Chapter 5 Not Compatible

  • When Adriana woke up from her sleep, it was already dark outside. Her whole body ached so much as if an elephant had stepped on her. There wasn’t a single part of her body that didn’t hurt.
  • ‘Beast!’ She cursed Sebastian under her breath and slowly sat up on the bed.
  • Her body had been cleaned off, and she was wearing a large, oversized men's shirt that clearly belonged to Sebastian.
  • Her stomach suddenly growled, and only then did she remember that she hadn’t eaten anything yet. She slowly got out of bed and opened the door to step outside.
  • This apartment was a duplex with a very compact layout and a minimalist style, completely different from the other houses.
  • Adriana knew that Sebastian owned a duplex in the city, but she had never been here, and he hadn’t allowed her to come because this place was his love nest with Olivia.
  • Aside from Jasper and Olivia, no one else was allowed near this house.
  • Thinking about this, Adriana smiled sarcastically and made her way downstairs. Her eyes fell on Sebastian, who was working on his laptop in the living room. Perhaps because he had heard her footsteps, he turned and looked at her.
  • When his eyes landed on her, they were filled with a burning heat.
  • Adriana lowered her gaze, and her face immediately turned red. Aside from his shirt, she wasn’t wearing anything underneath. She fiddled with the hem of the shirt and stood at the bottom of the stairs, waiting for him to say something.
  • Sebastian’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly as he watched the blush spread across her cheeks. After a few moments, he finally opened his mouth and spoke as he placed his laptop on the coffee table. “Let’s eat.”
  • He stood up and walked towards the dining room. Adriana didn’t hesitate to follow him and pulled out a chair to sit down.
  • The meal laid out on the table was an incredibly luxurious four-course meal with soup. She hadn’t drunk a drop of water or eaten anything since noon, and she had also been forced to work out intensely by Sebastian for some time, so she was extremely hungry now.
  • Adriana forked a piece of fish from the plate in front of her and looked at Sebastian with a satisfied expression. "Did you cook this?"
  • His hand paused for a moment before he said in a cold voice, "Takeout."
  • Adriana nodded and buried herself in her meal.
  • Sebastian had never been in the kitchen before, so how could he know how to cook?
  • After she had eaten her fill, she let out a small, satisfied burp and looked at him with a smile. “I’ll go back to the Hudson residence later. Can I leave my backpack here for now?"
  • She didn’t know if Madam Kingsley still went to the Hudson residence after Sebastian had kidnapped her, but she wanted to go back to watch the show and disrupt the Hudson family’s plans.
  • Sebastian didn’t say yes to her request, nor did he say no. Adriana assumed that he tacitly agreed to her request.
  • She went upstairs to change and left the house on her own.
  • ·······
  • The night on Willowbrook Avenue was very quiet. Halfway up the hill, the Hudson residence was still brightly lit.
  • Adriana stood outside the door for a moment, trying to listen to the noise inside, before pretending to be submissive and pushing open the door to enter the house. "Mom, Dad… I’m home."
  • Inside the living room, Madam Kingsley was sitting in the main chair with Sebastian sitting to her right. He looked as handsome as a divine being, completely different from the wild version of him just a few hours ago.
  • Did Sebastian have wings? How could he have arrived before her when she was the one who had left the house first?
  • Raymond and Margaret were sitting to the left of the elderly woman. Next to them was Olivia, dressed like a young lady from an aristocratic family. She wore a white dress, and her make-up was done in a pure and clean style.
  • Adriana secretly smiled mockingly. If she hadn’t lived through two lifetimes, perhaps she too would be fooled by Olivia’s pure appearance.
  • She looked at Sebastian and Madam Kingsley in surprise and spoke again, "Mom, Dad, are we having guests tonight?"
  • "A-Adriana." Olivia suppressed the shock and hatred in her heart and shot Adriana a meaningful look.
  • Hadn’t she already run away?
  • Why did she come back, especially at this time!
  • Margaret angrily and secretly pinched Raymond’s thigh, but she still maintained a smile on her face and said in an unhappy tone, "Riana, where have you been? Didn’t I tell you we had guests today?"
  • "School holiday is almost over, so she must have gone out to have fun with her classmates. Don’t be mad at her anymore." Raymond held back his anger and enthusiastically introduced Adriana to Madam Kingsley. "Madam, this is my youngest daughter, Adriana."
  • "Hello, Grandmother." Adriana greeted the elderly woman with a smile and walked towards Olivia.
  • Madam Kingsley looked at Adriana, then at Olivia, before speaking indifferently. "Come, sit here. I want to take a good look at you."
  • "Alright, Grandmother." Adriana raised her head and walked towards the elderly woman obediently.
  • In her previous life, she had been willing to stay by Sebastian’s side for five years, not only because she loved him so deeply, but also because this elderly woman had truly treated her like a granddaughter.
  • She was the only one in the Kingsley family who treated her well. Although they weren’t close, at least she tolerated her.
  • But unfortunately… This elderly woman was eventually killed by Olivia.
  • "This girl is too thin." Madam Kingsley sized Adriana up for a moment before looking at Sebastian beside her. "Bastian, what do you think?"
  • Adriana also looked at him and was immediately caught by his unfathomable gaze. She heard him say, "I'll listen to you."
  • Madam Kingsley nodded and stood up gracefully. "Since neither of you two is suitable for him, let’s just forget about this arrangement. We still have another family to visit."
  • "Grandmother." Olivia immediately became a little anxious. "How can we just forget about it? Isn’t our astrology the most compatible?"
  • This elderly woman had almost agreed to let her join the Kingsley family earlier, but why did she suddenly change her mind as soon as Adriana came back!
