Chapter 1 Divorce
- The Delgard Manor in Fairlake buzzed with excitement as the entire family gathered around a large round table.
- John Delgard stood up, a smile on his face, and announced, "I'm sure everyone here knows why we've gathered today. That's right! Today, the Delgard Corporation's market value has officially surpassed one billion!"
- As his words faded, everyone in the room stood up, applauding enthusiastically.
- After the applause died down, John continued, "Speaking of which, just three years ago, Delgard was a small company with a scale of only tens of millions and burdened with debt. Who would have thought that in such a short time, we would achieve such remarkable success? We owe it all to our great hero, Elvira Delgard!"
- As the old man spoke, everyone's gaze turned to Elvira.
- She was a woman blessed with flawless beauty. Tall and graceful, she exuded an air of composure.
- Elvira's beauty was enough to captivate countless young men.
- But beyond her appearance, what truly impressed people was her business acumen and luck.
- There was a rumor circulating in Fairlake that Elvira was a favorite of Lady Luck herself.
- Otherwise, it was simply inexplicable how she miraculously transformed a company on the brink of bankruptcy into a billion-dollar entity in just three years.
- Under the eager gazes of everyone present, Elvira stood up and smiled, saying, "The success of the company today is the result of everyone's hard work, not just mine. Grandpa, please don't put it all on me."
- Upon hearing this, John chuckled and nodded in agreement. Having Elvira as my granddaughter is undoubtedly my proudest achievement! However, it's a pity that...
- John glanced at the young man sitting next to Elvira, a hint of displeasure flashing in his eyes.
- Kaiser Rafaelsen, Elvira's husband, was the envy and admiration of countless men in Fairlake.
- However, unlike the radiant Elvira, Kaiser was an ordinary man. Apart from his handsome face, he had little else to offer.
- Everyone, including John, believed that Kaiser was not worthy of Elvira.
- At that moment, Kaiser looked at his wife with a tender expression, feeling happy for her accomplishments.
- "Today, besides announcing that our company has surpassed the billion-dollar mark, there is another matter that needs to be addressed," John suddenly said.
- Curiosity filled the room as everyone wondered if there was another surprise in store.
- John didn't beat around the bush but continued, looking directly at Elvira and Kaiser, "Kaiser, Elvira is now worth over a billion, and your presence has become an obstacle for her. I hope you can be sensible and agree to a divorce."
- "What?!" Kaiser's eyes widened in disbelief as he turned to John and protested, "Why? I don't agree to this!"
- John replied calmly, "This is a decision Elvira and I have made together. Your disagreement won't change anything."
- Kaiser looked at his wife, who had an expressionless face. Elvira retrieved a divorce agreement, already signed with her name, from her expensive handbag and handed it to Kaiser. Then she said, "Kaiser, I'm doing this for the sake of our family's interests. I hope you can understand."
- "Understand? How can you expect me to understand? Are you saying that our three years of love can be easily dismissed for the sake of family interests?" Kaiser exclaimed in agony.
- Upon hearing this, Elvira furrowed her delicate brows. "Kaiser, please don't be so childish. I've been working tirelessly for the company for the past three years. Have you ever helped me? What I need is a partner who can support me in my career, not just someone who can do laundry and cook!"
- Kaiser lowered his gaze, lost in thought.
- Elvira sighed, softening her tone. "After the divorce, you'll receive five million as compensation. That should be more than enough for you to live comfortably."
- After finishing her sentence, she handed a pen to Kaiser.
- Kaiser silently took the pen, looking at Elvira's beautiful signature on the divorce agreement. Then he suddenly said, "The money you're making now, it's enough to keep you comfortable for a lifetime, isn't it?"
- Elvira shook her head and said, "This is the difference between us, Kaiser. You're not as ambitious as I am. We now belong to two different worlds."
- "All right," Kaiser said, a relieved smile on his face. He signed his name and put down the pen, standing up. "I wish you happiness."
- With that, Kaiser left the house without a trace of reluctance.
- The celebratory feast behind them seemed to grow even more lively.
