Chapter 6 The Curse

  • The crowd thought they had misheard and asked, "What did you just say?"
  • "I said, Lord Valerio is not sick," Kaiser said calmly.
  • Ignoring Sylvia and Irinka's reactions, the experts suddenly burst into laughter. "Hahaha, not only are you a fraud, but you're also blind! Anyone with eyes can see that Lord Valerio is seriously ill and bedridden. How could he not be sick?"
  • Irinka caught on and angrily confronted Kaiser, "Are you playing a trick on me?"
  • Sylvia's expression soured, and she looked at Kaiser inquisitively, hoping for an explanation.
  • After all, when Roderick mentioned Kaiser, he spoke highly of him and showed respect. This made Sylvia believe that Kaiser Rafaelsen was truly extraordinary.
  • So, she wanted to hear what Kaiser had to say next.
  • Kaiser glanced at the people in the room and said, "Although it's hard to believe, Lord Valerio is indeed not ill."
  • "Nonsense!" one expert exclaimed loudly. "How could someone who is not sick be in a coma for a month?"
  • Kaiser asked, "Then what disease do you think he has?"
  • "I..." The expert hesitated, then reluctantly said, "I don't know. We've been studying for a month without any results. No matter how we stimulate him, Lord Valerio shows no response."
  • "It would be surprising if you could figure it out because he's not sick at all!" said Kaiser.
  • The expert was about to say something, but Sylvia cut him off, "Enough! If you can't do it, we'll find someone who can." She turned to look at Kaiser, "Mr. Rafaelsen, can you cure my grandpa?"
  • "Of course." Kaiser nodded.
  • Irinka couldn't help but say, "But didn't he say he can't treat sick people?"
  • "I indeed can't treat sick people, but..." Kaiser smiled and looked at Arthur. "He doesn't have an illness; he's cursed!"
  • "Cursed?"
  • Everyone wore a look of disbelief, and several experts said directly, "Nonsense! There is no curse. Clearly, you're just deceiving us!"
  • "Syl, are you really going to let this man tamper with our grandpa's health?" Irinka questioned.
  • Now, both Irinka and Sylvia cast doubtful glances at Kaiser.
  • "What now? Do you want me to treat him or not? If not, I'll leave!" Kaiser said impatiently.
  • He was merely returning a favor to Roderick, not begging to treat Arthur's illness. If Sylvia didn't trust him, he could simply leave.
  • Sylvia furrowed her delicate brows. Biting her lower lip, she looked at Kaiser earnestly. "Mr. Rafaelsen, are you confident?" she asked.
  • Kaiser flashed a confident smile. "As long as you don't interfere, I'm a hundred percent confident!"
  • Sylvia nodded emphatically. "Okay, I'm counting on you!"
  • Kaiser nodded with a faint smile.
  • Other experts in the room hastily inquired, "Ms. Sylvia, are you really going to let him meddle?"
  • "What else? Can I count on you?" Sylvia retorted, glaring at them.
  • The experts immediately fell silent.
  • Anyone who could cure Arthur would be his savior. By then, the person could get anything they wanted, whether it was money or power. Who wouldn't want that? But the problem was beyond their expertise; they couldn't solve it!
  • Kaiser ignored these people and walked straight to the bed. He placed his palm on Arthur's face.
  • He closed his eyes, feeling the curse within Arthur.
  • In fact, the world was not as calm as it seemed on the surface.
  • In this age dominated by materialism, there were still many things that modern science could not explain, such as sorcery, superpowers, ghosts, and monsters.
  • Kaiser's family was specifically responsible for solving problems that science couldn't explain.
  • Each heir would receive the blessing of the deities, gaining powerful abilities to combat supernatural entities.
  • In the past, people like them were called demon hunters.
  • However, following the tumultuous witch hunt that took place hundreds of years ago, supernatural entities gradually faded into obscurity, no longer easily interacting with humans. As a result, the profession of demon hunters gradually disappeared, with practitioners turning to more conventional lines of work.
  • Take the Kaiser family for example. Despite not giving up their thousand-year-old heritage, they also ran several businesses. A few of Kaiser's relatives were listed on Forbes' list of billionaires.
  • Meanwhile, Kaiser found the source of the curse within Arthur and was about to use his magical power to draw out the curse.
  • As the source of the curse gradually left Arthur's body, his complexion turned rosy.
  • However, halfway through, the door to the ward was suddenly opened.
  • The person leading the group shouted, "What are you doing? Get away from Lord Valerio."
  • With that, he quickly walked over and pulled Kaiser away.
  • Kaiser's expression changed. "Oh no!"
  • As his hand left Arthur's body, the source of the curse that had been caught quickly escaped and returned to Arthur's body.
  • With this disturbance, the curse began to erupt!
