Chapter 7 Dr. Smith
- Upon seeing Kaiser's sudden change in expression, Sylvia immediately suspected that Duncan had caused trouble and shouted, "Duncan, what have you done?"
- Duncan Yarn was one of Sylvia's admirers.
- The Yarn family was also a well-established aristocratic family. Their influence in Fairlake was just as significant as that of the Valerio family.
- Upon hearing of Sylvia's return, Duncan had rushed over excitedly. He had not expected to be greeted in such a manner. Nevertheless, he explained, "Sylvia, I heard that Lord Valerio is sick, so I specifically invited Dr. Smith to come and take a look. Don't worry, Dr. Smith can cure any disease in the world!"
- After saying this, he stepped aside. Behind him was a middle-aged doctor followed by four or five assistants carrying various medical equipment.
- "What? You're Dr. Smith?" Irinka exclaimed with joy.
- Duncan continued, "Dr. Smith is a top-notch neurology expert in the capital, with unique research in neuroscience. He has published thirty to forty papers in journals sponsored by the World Medical Association. Just a few days ago, Dr. Smith received an invitation from the World Medical Association and will soon become a member there. This time, Dr. Smith happened to pass through Fairlake and came to treat Lord Valerio in the midst of his busy schedule."
- Duncan spoke with a hint of self-satisfaction, proud that he could invite Smith.
- Upon hearing Duncan's series of titles, Irinka hurriedly stepped forward and said, "Dr. Smith, thank you in advance."
- Smith nodded proudly and then said, "You don't have to worry about Lord Valerio's illness with me here. You can send these mediocre people away."
- While speaking, he deliberately glanced at Kaiser and the other experts.
- Kaiser's expression remained unchanged, but the invited experts were all somewhat displeased. However, due to Smith's reputation, they did not dare to refute him.
- Irinka paid no attention to the others' expressions and turned to Smith, saying, "Dr. Smith, I entrust my grandpa to you."
- "Don't worry, I will certainly provide Lord Valerio with the most advanced treatment in the world."
- With that, Smith instructed his assistants to take out various medical instruments and conduct various examinations on Arthur.
- Sylvia looked somewhat embarrassed as she glanced at Kaiser. "Mr. Rafaelsen, please don't blame Irinka. This girl lacks education, and I will teach her a lesson on your behalf later. Won't you sit for a while?"
- She was polite, but everyone could see that Sylvia also felt that Smith seemed more reliable than Kaiser.
- "No need, he can't cure it," Kaiser said.
- Duncan had long been dissatisfied with Kaiser, thinking that he was also one of Sylvia's admirers. Upon hearing Kaiser dare to question Smith, he immediately shouted, "What a joke! Who are you? Can you cure Lord Valerio if Dr. Smith can't?"
- Standing beside the bed, Smith cast Kaiser a look full of disdain and said, "Young man, I know you want to impress a beautiful woman, but you should never speak thoughtlessly in areas you're not proficient in."
- As he spoke, he pulled out a syringe filled with medicine to inject into Arthur's vein.
- Kaiser's frown deepened when he saw what Smith was about to do. He couldn't help but say, "I advise you not to do this. Something will go wrong if you proceed with this injection."
- With a cold chuckle, Smith ignored the advice and injected all the medicine from the syringe into Arthur's body.
- Smith had great confidence in his own medicine, for what he had injected into Arthur was nothing else but adrenaline.
- Once this substance was injected, patients would typically feel invigorated, under the illusion that they are cured. However, in reality, this was a method of over-drafting one's life. Once the effects of the drug wore off, the illness would become even more severe.
- That was how Smith managed to deceive countless patients with adrenaline and surprisingly earned himself a reputation as a miracle doctor.
- After administering the adrenaline, Smith confidently looked at Arthur lying on the hospital bed, waiting to receive the gratitude of the awakened patient.
- However, things did not unfold as he had anticipated. After being injected with adrenaline, not only did Arthur fail to wake up, but a look of pain emerged on his previously calm face.
- Blood even trickled out from the corners of his mouth.
- "Grandpa!" Sylvia rushed to the bedside, glaring at Smith as she demanded, "What have you done?"
- Smith panicked. He didn't expect this to happen. "I-I don't know..."
