- “Maybe.” I tipped my head back to observe his face. If he could go to lengths to harm my date and crash the hangout with my mom and sister, he should have tabs on Herbert. “Your assistant is supposed to be up-to-date on your clients. A little heads up next time will do.”
- “I don’t need your permission to do business with anyone,” he replied. Of course. If I had doubts, his answer had already erased them. He knew Herbert was my father. He didn’t want to inform me.
