Chapter 17 Souvenir
- I didn’t wait until Monday to unblock Waylen, but he didn’t call or text me, neither did he show up at my house like a ghost. It might have been because I never left the house throughout the weekend, canceling even the spa appointment with Becca and Fumi, but I wasn’t interested in finding out the real reason he never visited to scare me again. When I got to the office, he was there. I wasn’t late, but it felt like I owed him an explanation for letting the boss come before me.
- We glared at each other through the glass wall. I did most of the glaring. His devious lips curved up in a smirk and to my utter dismay, my body recalled the way the knife slid through my cunt. Maybe I did like the thrill. In another scenario, it might have been something worth trying out. I couldn’t look away from him, even as the feeling that I led him on continued to swell inside me.
- If I had listened to him, none of that would have happened. And I couldn’t help the feeling that part of it was my fault. I broke eye contact first. It wasn’t time for work, do I serve him his coffee now? Or wait for it like we have always done? The aroma from my donuts almost tempted me into eating one of them, but I stayed focused. I walked over to the coffee pot and let it brew. It was so tempting to do something stupid and when he wasn’t looking, I spat into the mug.
