Chapter 3 Morning Quickie

  • WAYLEN
  • A shrill sound jarred me awake. My eyelids snapped open. I blinked at the ceiling a few times, trying to locate the source of the unfamiliar sound. Rolling onto my side, my body met with something firm. I reached for it without looking, and a smile touched my lips when my hand connected with something soft and firm. Boobs. I was touching boobs. I scooted over to the edge of the bed and plucked the phone from the stand.
  • The unfamiliar tune cut through the air once more. I frowned at the redhead who hadn’t stirred. Whatever the human’s name was, she had to wake up. The call seemed urgent. I yanked the cover off her, expecting her to jump or protest, but she only moaned. Spanking her cute ass earned me another moan. I laughed, walking away to grab the shorts at the foot of the bed.
  • Inside the bathroom, I splashed some water on my face. Light brown eyes stared back at me. I didn’t need to look closely to see the specks of gold in them. Show me someone who hadn’t slept well in days, and I would point at myself. Each passing day made me more restless. I thought moving to Illinois would fill the hole in my heart, but no. All I had done was fuck random females nearly every weekend. I stayed away from female wolves, not because I was good, but because I didn’t want any infraction from the wrong people. This wasn’t my land. Besides, fucking human was so much better.
  • A personal fuck you to the Indiana council.
  • I pushed thoughts of them out of my mind while mentally sifting through my tasks for the day. The office first, then the birthday party at Matt’s. The human invited everyone at the office to his plus one celebration.
  • The Illinois council didn’t care about humans and wolves interacting. But Kane did. He had his loyal hunting dog, Malik, to punish those who interacted beyond the usual expectations. Thinking about that bastard made my head hurt. I hadn’t met the him yet, only knew what he looked like from a few pictures. He liked to keep away from the spotlight. He probably didn’t work like the rest of us. Kane must be funding his lifestyle.
  • I shoved a toothbrush into my mouth and slapped my cheeks to give them color. My fingers tangled in the dirty blond beards covering my jaw and connecting to my sideburns. A shave might be necessary, but these beards earned me extra points with the women and made them giggle when I feasted on them.
  • All done, I pocketed the spare toothbrush I always kept for my conquests in case they preferred to brush before leaving. The lady wasn’t fully awake when I strolled back into the room. Lying on her stomach with her eyes closed, she pressed the phone to her ear and grunted a few times in response to the caller. Getting into the bed, I pulled the cover down her ass and smacked her cheeks.
  • She tossed me a look of warning over her shoulder, but I repeated it two more times. I could smell her arousal, so thick like maple syrup. Fuck, I missed Father’s pancakes. Using my knee to push her legs apart, I rubbed my front against her butt and leaned down to kiss behind her ear.
  • “Up for a quickie?” I whispered.
  • Morning quickies weren’t my style, but the girl looked flushed and sexy, with her red hair making a mess on the hotel’s pillow. Dumping her phone, she turned around in the tiny space between us and puffed her cheeks. Copper eyes stared at me, trying to pass a silent message. Damn, she was pretty. I picked a good one. Maybe I could take her to Matt’s party. We were allowed a plus one to the event. I shook that thought off as fast as it came. Humans were clingy, and I didn’t fuck the same person twice.
  • “What do you say?” I asked the quiet lady under me.
  • Her cheeks were still puffed. She punched my chest a few times, and I rolled off her. Once I did, she dashed to the connected bathroom, and the sound of retching followed soon after.
  • Yeah, no morning quickie for me.
  • Last night’s sex was so good I forgot one of my rules. One night only. The less time they spent with me, the lower their chances of growing attached. I heard the toilet flush, then the sound of flowing water. Moments later, she sashayed into the room, her hair pulled back to expose her beautiful tits. I stole a few glances at her bald pussy. She was exactly my type, and my cock throbbed at the visual in front of me. Yeah, she had to go. It was time for me to return to work.
  • “Sorry about that,” she said.
  • It was a shame I didn’t even remember her name. In different circumstances, we might have been friends with benefits. I tried to stand, but she was faster. She settled on my lap, her arms circling my neck as her boobs rubbed my chest. My nose picked up the smell of puke. Having heightened senses was great, but not in this situation.
  • Her mouth drew close to mine, but I ducked my head. My infatuation was gone. If I felt anything for her earlier, it was plain lust. But now, the stench of vomit on her breath made it hard to recognize any emotion other than disgust. Plus, I hated kissing the conquests if a hot makeout session wasn’t guaranteed. I tried to stand and pull her off me, but she locked her legs around my waist.
  • She wasn’t a crazy one, right? Experience and a broken windshield had taught me to avoid those. They were great fucks but unstable.
  • I managed to set her on her feet. Palming my face, she stared at me with concern swimming in her eyes. “What’s wrong?”
  • “You need to leave,” I said.
  • “Are you serious?”
  • “Yeah.” I glanced at the empty white wall. I needed to get a wall clock or something to point at for occasions like this. Backing away from her, I grabbed the dress off the tile floors and tossed it at her chest. I couldn’t remember if she had any underwear. Nope, she didn’t. “Your time’s up.”
  • “Hey!”
  • “What? I promised you a good time, and I delivered on my word. It’s time to leave.”
  • The redhead scoffed, already tugging the dress over her head. Shoving a foot into her red sandal, she muttered a string of words. I stood akimbo, waiting for her to get the fuck out of my sanctuary. Moments like this made me consider getting another room exclusive to fucking.
  • Done, she charged for the door. But before leaving, she turned. “Fuck you, Antonio.”
  • Antonio? “That’s not even my name.” She placed a hand on her hip, and I flushed in embarrassment. Oh, right. Antonio was my fuckboy name. I couldn’t have the council knowing about my sexcapades. “You’re right. Bye.”
  • Seconds of glaring at each other passed. She sashayed out and slammed the door.
  • Women.
  • I stripped the bed and dumped the sheet on the floor. Room service will be here later to clean up. After putting everything I would need for the day on the bed, I hopped into the shower. My phone rang while I was still bathing. I ignored it. Work resumed by 8, but I came in by 9—smartass privileges. I was of too much value to the firm. Plus, the big boss was Father’s friend.
  • The phone was still ringing when I padded into the room. I tucked the white button-down shirt into my pants, flashing my image in the mirror a wicked grin. It had been between resuming later and abiding by the company dress policies. I picked the former. The outfit wasn’t so bad. It was practice for when I took over Father’s agency. The man lived and breathed suits.
  • At the third ring, I snatched the phone from the dresser, and my lips turned down in a frown.
  • “Father.” He grunted in reply. My father wasn’t the call or overly affectionate type, and neither was I. Alphas needed to be strong and keep their emotions in check. “To what do I owe this pleasure?”
  • “Can’t I check in on my son?”
  • “Not really,” I said, laughing.
  • My tie was next. I put the call on speaker mode and tried to knot the multicolored thing.
  • “Waylen,” Father said. The gold specks took over most of my pupils, and my head instantly bowed in respect. My wolf was on the surface, impatient as I was to know the reason for this call. “How have you been?”
  • I fixed my tie, grabbed the phone, and sat on the edge of the bed to pull my socks over my feet. My briefcase was on the bed. It contained the sheets on my current project.
  • “Get to the point, Father.”
  • A breath escaped me as I stomped my foot on the ground. I would get breakfast on the way to work. I picked up the briefcase, car and room keys, tucked my phone between my ear and shoulder, then exited the room.
  • My shoes pounded against the floor of the empty hallway. I stopped in front of the elevator and punched my destination number.
  • “Father?”
  • “The council thinks it’s a good idea to let us interact with others,” he muttered. I could smell the lie from a state away. “What do you think? You can return home and fuck around.”
  • I might have butt-dialed him during one of my sexcapades. If I thought too hard about that day, I would hear his voice, heavy with disappointment. He chose to be celibate, not me. I didn’t have a mate, so I was allowed to fuck around. He didn’t have to worry about little bastards because I protected myself.
  • “Aw, you miss me,” I cooed.
  • The elevator opened. Thank Goddess, it was empty. It usually would be filled on a Monday morning. I stepped in, appreciating the moment’s silence to myself.
  • “Waylen,” Father warned.
  • “The council thinks it’s a good idea for us to interact with others?” By others, I meant humans. Father murmured something unintelligible, and I didn’t try to know what that was. Werewolves mingling with humans has been a dream of his. Beyond fucking and working with them, I didn’t see the appeal. But he couldn’t impose his will on the council. “The same council Kane is in charge of?”
  • “Yes, that one.”
  • All these years with the humans must have affected him. He was too soft for an Alpha.
  • “And wolves now fly, Father.”
  • “Son, we will discuss this properly when you return home. We can make things right now, Waylen.” I rolled my eyes. Nothing was broken, so nothing needed to be fixed. His silly human project would never get a second hearing from the council. “Some of the members of the council agree with me.”
  • “About what?”
  • “Come home, Waylen,” he murmured, “and I’ll tell you everything you need to know.”
  • If I weren’t already tired of this state and the mindless routine, I would have put up a fight or gone on a tirade about his new project. He was interested in uniting the werewolves and humans. I bet Malik would be the first to object. He would be out of a job if that happened. The only reason Father still lived was because of his title. A regular werewolf would be dead for uttering such an abomination.
  • The elevator pinged. I was at my stop. I made the short journey to my car and dumped my briefcase on the front seat.
  • “It’s time for you to come home, son.”
  • “Okay, pops,” I said. The old man laughed, like I expected. “See you soon, Father.”
