• Elizabeth stormed out of the building, only pausing to catch her breath. I unlocked my door but didn’t step out so she could have some moments to herself. My fingers curled as she massaged her wrists. Waylen wouldn’t hurt her. He wouldn’t dare. I put a foot out of the car, but Elizabeth resumed walking, so I stayed back. She entered the passenger seat and shut the door quietly.
