Chapter 166 Grudge Keeper(1)
- Waylen was a grudge-keeper. If I didn’t care about him, I would have left him to his devices and anger, but I did. So, I was stuck, and it was affecting my relationship with Malik. We hadn’t spoken about the list since we left Waylen’s office two days ago. I hadn’t asked Malik about an update for fear of hearing more bad news. For now, my sister was fine, my mom and friends too.
- The only people I had to worry about were those who showed up for the party. A party I helped to plan. I couldn’t let them just die because Waylen was being a hard nut to crack. I paused what I was working on the monitor to pull out my phone and text Joe. Waylen was still at the office. I had a few minutes until lunch break to get there. I had no plans beyond the tickets in my purse.
- Trying again for the umpteenth time, I called Waylen, but it went straight to voicemail. What did he want from me? Fine, I knew what he wanted, but I couldn’t give Malik up. I rounded off the tasks and shut the laptop.
