Chapter 2
- [Two hours ago]
- [Location: Sherry's house]
- “What… what in the holy world happened just now?”
- Sherry got up from her bed sweating. She was clutching her quilt and her body was shaking.
- Was it a dream? She questioned herself. It was not. Sherry was sure of it. She looked at the calendar on the table beside her bed.
- In big black letters the day and date was written.
- “13th February 202X”
- It was the day before her marriage on 14th February. But she was in her wedding dress just a moment ago.
- “But…I was about to marry Chris…” She clutched her head as she remembered about the incident before her marriage.
- ~Flashback~
- Sherry was wearing make ups and her best friend and also the bridesmaid for her marriage, Bella, was helping her up.
- “Bella, when is the date for delivery?” Applying a foundation she asked Bella who was doing her hair.
- “Soon. Could be today.” She replied with a smirk, caressing her belly.
- Pouting Sherry looked at her face. “Come on, tell me who is your lover…You are even pregnant with his child…” But Bella just gave a slight chuckle.
- “First let’s get you married and then I will tell.” Bella replied combing her hair.
- ‘If you are alive to get married that is.’ Bella who was smiling had a menacing look on her face for a brief second.
- Her phone lit up with a notification. She looked at the unknown ID.
- “Do it. Everything is ready.”
- “Sherry, my stomach hurts. Can you get me my drink?” Bella pleaded, acting like she was in pain.
- Worried something might be wrong, Sherry rushed to the kitchen to make her some hot tea, even though she should have been getting ready for her wedding.
- After about five minutes, Sherry hurried back, holding the cup.
- “Here you go,” she said, handing the drink to Bella and gently massaging her belly.
- “Is that better now?” she asked, concerned.
- Bella gave her a playful flick on the forehead. “Why are you worrying about me, you idiot? You’re supposed to be getting ready for your wedding!”
- She pushed the tea into Sherry’s hands. “Here, drink up. You need to keep your energy up, okay?”
- Sherry smiled, completely missing the malice behind Bella’s smile. “Thanks, Bella. You’re the best.”
- Without thinking anything she chugged down the cup.
- As soon as she had finished it, she felt a little dizzy and before she knew it the world turned around by 360 degree, her stomach in agony.
- What was happening she did not know but aura of death was already revolving around her.
- “Bella…it hurts…it r-really hu-urts…” Choking on the blood in her mouth she struggled to speak. She coughed out a mouthful of blood. She could not understand why and how she was feeling this burning pain in her body.
- “Bella…” She looked up at the girl who was looking at her like as if she was a bug with a disgusted expression.
- Her expression was wrong. She was not worried or upset but Sherry could see the smug feeling of victory in her eyes.
- “It’s time you leave us all Sherry…You have already spent much time in bliss and happiness.” Bella crouched down on the floor patting her head.
- “Good bye Sherry.”
- “W-What….” Before she could completely grasp what was happening, she felt her breathe getting shorter.
- Her eyes darkened as regret and unanswered questions filled her heart. Sherry died on her wedding day.
- Bella is her childhood friend. She’s plus one. Why did she do it? That was the only question Sherry carried as her life slipped away. If someone could just give her a reason, she would have accepted her fate willingly.
- But no. I can’t die like this!
- Her final thought was a desperate wish, clinging to the hope that death wouldn’t be the end.
- And somehow, as if her plea had been heard, she was given a second chance. Now, she was back—one day before her wedding.
- "This second chance… it must be to fix everything," Sherry whispered, grateful to whatever force had listened to her last dying wish.
- “I have to fix everything and get the answer.” Sherry freshened up and went to her friend’s house in a hurry without informing her beforehand.
- "Bella... I need answers." Sherry drove to an apartment in the heart of the bustling city, her mind spinning with questions.
- ~Flashback Ends~
- Now, she sat trembling inside a closet, tears streaming down her face. The bitter truth of her lover and best friend’s betrayal crashed over her like a tidal wave.
- They were the two people she trusted most, and they had stabbed her in the back.
- "God... was I reborn just to witness this?" she whispered, her heart heavy with remorse and pain. Nothing hurt more than betrayal from the ones you love.
