Chapter 109 Finding Out

- I stood in the kitchen, clutching the counter. The contractions had begun in the late afternoon after I had collected the children from school. Jared was away on training and he would not be back till the end of the month, he had said when he was leaving. As always, he had kissed me goodbye but in a dispassionate way. He was concerned about us, I will give him that. But his mind was preoccupied with his past. Only the shadow of the man I had married was around now.
- I had told him about my last visit to the doctor; my gynaecologist, Dr Anusri Rao had warned me that my due date was approaching; I should not stress myself out, she said in her sweet melodious voice. But I was not overly concerned. I had already packed a bag with the things I would require, to take to the hospital. As for the children, I had asked Naomi to handle them when I was in the hospital; she had agreed.
