Chapter 6 I Can’t Compliment You on Your Tastes
- The atmosphere in the villa became solemn.
- Wyatt scanned the bottles over and the indifference in his eyes grew. “So you’re doing all of this for me, Mrs. Malcolm. I have misjudged you.”
- Summer was not an idiot; she could obviously feel the ridicule in his voice and expression.
- With a casual wave of his hand at the butler next to him, he immediately marched forward briskly and took away the bottles of medicine.
- “You’re asking the butler to keep it away because… you don’t want to take it?” she asked, sounding somewhat guilty, feeling that he seemed unhappy about it.
- With a faint smirk on his lips, he said, “Let’s eat.”
- His voice was low and icy, making Summer feel as though the air around them had turned cold.
- Looks like he’s pissed for real, she thought as she held her hands nervously together. It doesn’t look good if I went ahead to get him supplements on the second day of marriage, I think. Did he think that I was doing this because I despise him?
- Suddenly, she recalled that Harper did mention to her about handicapped people having a lower self-esteem, and she couldn’t help but blame it on her. That woman! Why did she get me these when she knew that handicapped people have self-esteem issues?
- However, she was in the wrong as well for not thinking about this.
- “Let’s eat,” he repeated in a husky voice.
- Picking up her fork anxiously, Summer started digging into what was an especially nerve-wrecking and depressing meal for her.
- After lunch, the butler went to her and informed, “Madam, Mr. Wayne just called and asked for you and Mr. Wyatt to have dinner at his place tonight. The driver will pick you up after class, so you shouldn’t make any plans after that.”
- “I got it!” With a polite smile, Summer continued, “I have no other plans in the evening anyway.”
- Her eyes crinkled when she smiled, making her look sincere and adorable, giving others the feeling that she was very innocent.
- Thereafter, she picked up her backpack and waved at Wyatt. “I’m going now!”
- When she was completely out of sight, the butler shifted behind Wyatt politely. “I’ve already sent the prescriptions for content analysis. The report will be out soon.” Then, he couldn’t help but add, “I don’t think Mrs. Malcolm is such a scheming person.”
- Casting a look in the direction she had just left, Wyatt instructed, “Check up on the doctor who asked her out for lunch.”
- The butler pressed his lips tightly together before saying, “Emmanuel mentioned that the prescriptions were from her friend. I think her friend is even more suspicious—”
- Before he could finish, the icy cold air from Wyatt was enough to stop him mid-sentence.
- With a faint smirk, he said, “Is there a problem if I want to check up on the man who asked my wife out for lunch?”
- “N-No problem at all!”
- ---
- After class, Summer immediately saw Emmanuel waiting for her at the main gate with an incredibly ostentatious Rolls Royce parked nearby when she stepped out of school, and her heart sank.
- In quick steps, she dashed over to him and ordered, “Let’s go quickly!” If anyone sees me getting into a luxurious car, they’ll come up with all sorts of rumors!
- However, the more worried she was about something, the more likely it was bound to happen.
- The second she got into the car, she clearly saw the shocked look on her classmate, Wendy Longhouse’s face through the window.
- Dang it! she thought dejectedly.
- Similar to the broadcast station of the school, anything that Wendy got to know would be known by the whole school within a day’s time.
- “Sit properly.”
- Just as she was worried about how to salvage the situation, a low, male voice echoed next to her and she spun her head around in shock.
- The man with the black cloth over his eyes was sitting unmovingly in the backseat next to her.
- “Why are you here?” she asked, startled. Isn’t Emmanuel supposed to pick me up to have dinner with Grandpa?
- “It’s on the way, ” he said simply as he sat there on the leather seat.
- Seems like he doesn’t want to speak with me. He’s probably still pissed over what happened during lunch, she thought as she looked out the window sadly.
- A while after the car started moving, Summer realized something amiss.
- The car… It’s not going in the direction of Grandpa’s house. Are we… Are we going home?
- With a frown, she asked, “Aren’t we going to Grandpa’s house?”
- The man next to her said disdainfully, “In the way you’re dressed?”
- It was then that she realized that she was in her over-washed jeans and a white T-shirt with the words ‘We’re Heartless Fairies’ written in black on it.
- Uh, it does seem inappropriate to wear this to meet an elder. However…
- “How do you know what I’m wearing?” Isn’t he blind?
- With a snort, he uttered, “I can’t compliment you on your tastes.”
- Summer was speechless; no matter how nice her personality was, she would still be unhappy if he kept testing her patience time and again!
- Hence, she rolled her eyes at him, and when she recalled that he couldn’t see it, she did it again.
- After venting her frustrations, she pouted her lips and kept her gaze outside the window. “If you want me to change at home, then you could just have waited at home for me. Why do you have to tag along?”
- It must be inconvenient for a blind man to go out of the house! she thought.
- With a soft snigger, he said to the driver calmly, “Emmanuel.”
- Next, the divider between the front and back seats rolled down and turned the car into two private spaces.
- Gracefully, Wyatt handed a document over to her. “Take a look at this.”
- Although Summer was confused, she still flipped open the document, which turned out to be an analysis report of a few bottles of unlabeled medicine.
- Unlabeled medicine? The ones Harper gave me in the afternoon? she wondered in surprise. He actually sent those prescriptions for analysis?
- A few seconds later, she thought it was alright that he sent them in for analysis. After all, his body was weak and he shouldn’t take any medicine at a whim. It would spell trouble if he had an allergic reaction or something.
- The rich really think of everything! she thought as her eyes skipped to the part stating ‘Results’.
- “Uh...” The words printed in the results section had Summer completely dumbstruck.
- ‘The samples were identified as drugs for the treatment of diseases related to the male reproductive system, including erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation.’
- Completely dumbstruck, she wondered, What’s going on? Her hands trembled and the report fell to the carpeted floor with a light flap.
- With a hint of a threat in his low voice, Wyatt said, “So, do you, Mrs. Malcolm, think that I’m a man who is impotent?”
- “I didn’t… I–I’m not… I–I…” Summer stammered, so flustered that she couldn’t even complete a sentence.
- But Harper said that medicine was to treat his eyes when she gave them to me! she thought in shock.
- As Harper was her best friend, she never thought that she would set her up! If she had known that was the use of the medicine, she would have never accepted them!
- With his long arms, the man with the black cloth over his eyes picked her up and placed her on his lap, a dangerous but sexy air exuding from him at the same time.
- Blushing brightly, she began, “I—”
- “Looks like you aren’t satisfied with our first night, Mrs. Malcolm.” Holding her chin firmly with his big hand, he continued, “So on the second day after the wedding, you went to the hospital to get me these prescriptions. What a lot of thought you’ve given to this matter.”
- With the black cloth over his eyes, he appeared even more sexy and seductive.
- With her chin still held tightly by him, she tried to avoid him. “I–I didn’t know that these are the functions of the medicine! I thought these are to treat—Mmph!”
