Chapter 12 Stop It!
- The black Maserati darted through the city streets before it finally came to a stop in front of the study room building of Blackburn University. Without even stopping for a second to thank Emmanuel, Summer jumped out of the car and bolted straight for the study rooms.
- Not only were her study notes amongst the books which she left in the study room, but there were also the certificates she had won from various awards and also the postcards her grandmother would send her every year on her birthday.
- The postcards were ruggedly made with crooked handwriting, and they might seem less than waste paper to others, but these cards were her most precious treasures!
- Although it was early in the morning, the study room building was packed with people, and so was the elevator entrance.
- While she was waiting for the elevator, Harper’s call came again. “When are you arriving, Summer? Things are getting out of control!”
- Through the phone, Summer could hear her choking up, and her heart squeezed tightly.
- Taking a deep breath, she decided not to wait for the elevator anymore and dashed toward the staircase at the side.
- It’s only eight floors. It’s not such a big deal! she thought.
- As she hadn’t eaten anything since morning, her legs were wobbly by the time she reached the eighth floor. Ignoring the tiredness from her legs, she sprinted madly toward the study room.
- The whole floor was guarded by people, and Harper stood anxiously in the hallway alone. Close to her, there were a group of men dressed in black, and they were throwing her books and notes into a burning basin.
- The flames which danced brightly were engulfing all her precious notes in fire!
- Next to the basin, a man dressed in black was seated lazily on a chair. “What’s all these messy papers?” he said as he picked up a first place certificate in Blackburn City’s physics competition and tore it to pieces.
- “You put that down right now!” she yelled and threw herself at that man furiously.
- When she was close, only then did she realize that that man was actually Winston!
- “Do you really like to hug me so much, Summer?” Winston sneered, sitting roguishly on the chair and scanning her brazenly from head to toes. “If you’re so open, why did you act like an innocent girl in Grandpa’s house yesterday?”
- Gritting her teeth, she shook him off and grabbed the tattered certificate into her arms tightly. However, she heard the ripping sound of paper behind her, and it was the other men tearing her other things into pieces.
- “Stop it! These are mine! Destroying my properties without my permission is illegal!” she shouted, tears welling up in her eyes as she tried to snatch back all that belonged to her.
- “You can stop now,” Winston snorted coldly, sitting with his ankle on his other knee. “Show some respect for my cousin-in-law.”
- Since he had already spoken, his men finally stopped, and Harper dashed forward to help Summer snatch back her belongings. Still, there were many things that were still in the burning basin.
- While she put together her stuff, Summer lifted her eyes and looked into the basin. Suddenly, she saw the corner of a photo album poking through the flames, and she froze.
- That was the album where she kept the photos and postcards she received from her grandmother every year!
- Almost subconsciously, she reached out her hand and grabbed the album which was in flames. The fire burned her fingers to a bright red, but she kept using her sleeves to put out the leftover flames on the album as though she couldn’t feel a thing.
- Harper grabbed the album from her hands and put it to the side, enraged as she stared at her burnt hands.
- “Did I go too far?” Winston chuckled. “Compared to how Wyatt sowed discord yesterday, what I just did is nothing!” As though something came into his mind suddenly, he pointed a finger at the bruise on his forehead. “Summer, you should know how this came about.”
- What has that got to do with me? Summer pondered. Is that the bruise from my heels last night?
- “If I compare it to what you and your husband did to me last night,” he said and snorted indifferently at her. “I don’t think I went overboard at all.” As he spoke, he took a quick glance at the papers in her arms and continued, “I should’ve burned all of it if I’d known that those trash were so precious to you!”
- Last night, Christian had already reminded him to behave himself, but this was the first time in his life that someone threw a shoe at him, so there was absolutely no way he could take it lying down!
- “You deserved what happened last night!” Summer lashed out and glared at him fiercely, her already rounded face becoming more round from anger. “You asked for it!”
- He was the one who molested Ms. Ainsley first and then started a fight with them outside. So he had no right at all to blame this on Wyatt!
- Furthermore, the way he was walking all over Wyatt last night, she didn’t feel that she had done anything wrong by protecting him as his wife!
- But her words angered Winston, and he narrowed his eyes dangerously at her.
- Pacing in front of her, he reached out and gripped her chin so tightly that it was as if he wanted to crush her bones. “It’s my fault for not seeing how pretty you are, Summer. Not all who come from the village are dark and dirty country bumpkins. There are also some like you who are fair and smooth...” He trailed off and gave her a once over. “You have a good figure, too. They’re huge.”
- Summer began to panic and broke away from him. “You better show me some respect. I’m your cousin-in-law, after all!” she said, placing her arms across her chest.
- “You don't know me well at all, Summer,” he said, inching closer to her. “I’ve always loved to sleep with another man’s woman, and the more fierce they are, the more I like them.”
- Then, without giving her a chance to escape, the men behind her had already caught a hold on her.
- “The more you resist, the more interested I become,” Winston sneered and closed in on her as he reached out and pinched her cheek. “You take care of your skin so well and don’t seem like you’re from the village at all.”
- His voice was just as disgusting as his words.
- Rushing over furiously, Harper shouted, “You—”
- Without even the need for Winston to say anything, his men dragged her away.
- We’re outnumbered, and every one of them is well built, Summer thought with tightened fists. We can’t fight fire with fire.
- “This place doesn’t look so convenient,” Winston said and looked around before gesturing at an empty study room with his eyes.
- His men immediately understood his meaning and dragged Summer into the empty room.
- “Winston Malcolm!”
- The moment she was dragged into the study room, Summer panicked; she hadn’t even given her first time to her husband, Wyatt, so she could never let a scum like Winston ruin it!
- “Oh, yeah,” Winston muttered, poking his finger in her cheek. “I like your angry face, so you can continue.”
- Summer didn’t notice that she had bitten her lips so much that all colors had drained from them in her panic.
- Casually, Winston watched as she continued to struggle, and all of a sudden, he ripped her clothes open in front of the two men!
- “Hang on!” Summer cried out, tightening her jaw as she racked through her brains which had helped her get first place in countless examinations. “You said that you like women with a fierce personality, didn’t you?”
- With a sneer, he nodded.
- Blinking, she continued, “So if I obey everything you say and do as you wish, you’ll lose interest in me?”
- Upon hearing her, the two men dressed in black burst into laughter, and Winston was beyond delighted. Is this village girl not using her brains at all?
