Chapter 49
- Evy
- At night, it was not the most peaceful. As much as I wanted to muffle my thoughts, they screamed too loudly inside my head. I simply couldn't stop thinking about how Gael would react upon discovering my escape. He'd probably react with a good party among friends and girls, after all, I'm giving him his long-awaited freedom, right? And there's still the risk of him succeeding with his father's coveted inheritance, as that has always been his goal. The thought that he arrives tonight makes me uneasy. I can't afford to fall into his hands again. If Gael finds out about this pregnancy, I certainly won't stand a chance.
- "He'll never find us here," I say, gently caressing my stomach, but deep down, I wanted to be near him, to feel warm and safe in his arms. "Damn, Evy, what are you saying? When have you truly felt safe with him?" Another heavy breath passes through my mouth, and I turn to the side in bed.
