Chapter 27
- Evy
- The golf club isn't much different from the tennis club I used to frequent in my adolescence. All the luxury of the structure, the lush greenery covering most of the perimeter, and the white fences containing a beautiful flower garden. Tiffany steps out of the car and walks toward a cottage where some women await us at a round table on the veranda. As we approach, I notice the girls eyeing me up and down, their curiosity barely concealed. I take a deep breath, subtly, not wanting them to notice my discomfort being here. As we draw near, I observe them closely, greeting each other warmly, embracing festively and at length, possibly whispering among themselves.
- "Ladies, this is Evy D’Angelo," Tiffany announces as she steps away from the group of friends, beaming broadly at everyone. I feel like a trophy being displayed for them.
