Chapter 9 Inevitable Divorce
- Aiden froze when he heard her pleas. He stopped his beastly act and retracted his hand immediately.
- In the inky blackness of the night, his handsome features were dimly illuminated by the moonlight. His expression was difficult to decipher.
- A moment later, he rose from the bed and straightened out the creases in his clothes. Then, he said slowly, “This divorce is happening whether you like it or not because I'm going to marry your sister, Sadie.”
- “No, you can't!”
- Ruth was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Her tears flowed uncontrollably like a river.
- She leaped off the bed in panic and hugged Aiden tightly from behind as she sniffed, “Honey, I'm your wife. How can you marry someone else?”
- “You should know that I've always loved Sadie. If it weren't for your shares, I wouldn't have spared you a second glance. Now that all your assets are under my name, you're of no value to me. You don't deserve to be my wife.”
- Aiden tried to break free from Ruth's hold, but her grip was unusually strong from the adrenaline and madness pumping through her veins.
- “I will never divorce you! Never!”
- She leaned her face into his back, shaking her head repeatedly in denial. She screamed, “D-didn't you send me to Mr. Zeal as a gift for that billion-dollar contract? I can do the same again with Mr. Williams or Mr. Lee, even Mr. Gonzalez or whoever they are. Can you see that I'm still useful to you? Honey, please don't divorce me. I'll do anything you want!”
- “Ruth, you're really crazy!”
- Ruth fell to the floor at Aiden's rough shove. His eyes narrowed in disgust as he watched her.
- Her lack of self-respect and shamelessness is revolting I wouldn't be surprised that she actually slept with Jackson the night before our wedding. I was so stupid to have been worried sick that she might have killed herself. How could someone as flagrant as her think of committing suicide? I was a fool!
- “Honey, please don't leave me! Dad and Mom are dead, and so is our baby. You're the only family I have left. I'm begging you—please don't leave me.”
- Shivering in a heap on the floor, Ruth pleaded to him as she bawled her eyes out.
- She hated him and Sadie for the abortion that was forced upon her. Sometimes she fantasized about killing both of them to avenge her pain.
- Yet, her hatred disappeared in the face of her love for Aiden.
- She always consoled herself by remembering the three happy years they had shared. He's just under Sadie's spell. If I work hard enough, I can surely win him back. We can have a baby again, and we can go back to those happy days again.
- Sometimes, she really hated how low she had stooped to for Aiden's love.
- There was nothing she could do to save herself. After all, she had been in love with him for eleven years.
- She had spent all that time in her life to accomplish the one and only mission in her life—to love Aiden wholeheartedly.
- If he isn't here anymore, what reason do I have to live?
- “You said you would do anything I asked, right?” Aiden asked as he lifted her jaw to face her.
- Ruth sniffed pitifully, “Y-yes. Anything.”
- “Then, you should die.”
- Aiden left the room after uttering those hateful words.
- I can't stand it here anymore. I don't want to see this madwoman even for a second longer!
