Chapter 19 Unseen Powers

Luna eagerly awaited the weekend. She could finally hide away and train her new powers, besides trying to understand that old spellbook. She didn't know where these powers came from. The only thing her grandmother said was that they channeled the power of the primordial witch, the original one, whose crazy impact still scared the girl.
She wasn't very religious but would hate to succumb to the devil's wishes just to have powers she needed to save a town she barely knew. After breakfast, she thought she was free until the doorbell rang, and the housekeeper went to open it. Suddenly, Mary Ann appeared with that pleading and happy look that made Luna take a deep breath and roll her eyes, hiding it because she didn't want to offend the girl.
She just wanted a moment of peace to focus on her goal. Normal people would use the weekend to hang out, study a bit more, or go to parties, things Luna hated. The previous night, she was displeased with everything, but her goal there was achieved. She caught Adrian's attention, and the two formed an alliance that would benefit them.
