Chapter 8 Campus Belle, Sacha Cox

  • Seeing Lewis lazing around doing nothing every day for the past few days, Winona was annoyed. This grown man either strolled out or slept all day. She couldn't fathom how he managed to stay idle. Winona resolved to have a serious talk with him.
  • In the spacious hall of Winona's duplex villa, Lewis was half-lying on the sofa watching TV when Winona suddenly appeared and sat opposite him.
  • "What do you plan to do with your life if you don't work all day?" Winona asked abruptly.
  • Lewis was taken aback by Winona's sudden question. Weren't they supposed to stay out of each other's business?
  • "I thought we shouldn't interfere with each other's personal lives? It's only been a few days, and you're already acting like a real wife?" Lewis replied with a mischievous grin, glancing over at Winona as he spoke.
  • Seeing Lewis's rogueish demeanour, Winona felt she must be losing her mind. How could she start caring about Lewis? Could it be that she was beginning to develop feelings for him? No, definitely not.
  • Winona's eyes flickered with a hint of panic. "I think you're quite capable, and I need a driver and bodyguard. How does that sound to you?"
  • "Oh, I see. Well, money's tight right now. How much are you offering?" Lewis quickly found himself an excuse.
  • "4,500 dollars a month, plus bonuses. You'll need to pick me up, drop me off on time daily, and keep me safe," Winona replied after some thought.
  • After all, with what happened involving Matthew, she did need a bodyguard. Winona reasoned it out like this, which explained why she had been asking Lewis why he wasn't working.
  • Lewis nodded in agreement. 4,500 dollars a month was neither here nor there for him. Protecting his wife was the real deal.
  • After finalising their agreement, Lewis would start working as Winona's bodyguard tomorrow. However, Lewis had an important matter to arrange first.
  • Taking the car keys from Winona, Lewis drove her Porsche out of the garage, set the navigation, and headed towards Oakdale University in Kloria.
  • Lewis felt deeply guilty about Feral's death. Feral wouldn't have had to sacrifice himself if he hadn't underestimated the intelligence. Although Lewis avenged Feral later on, the weight of his mistake remained, and he couldn't forgive himself for the lapse in judgment.
  • Luckily, Feral had a younger sister, Sacha. "Let me take care of her for you. I promise as long as I'm around, no one can harm her," Lewis finally decided.
  • When Lewis arrived at the female dormitory of Oakdale University in his sleek Porsche sports car, a crowd had already gathered downstairs. The onlookers watched with keen interest, their eyes following the luxurious vehicle as it pulled up, wondering about the handsome man who stepped out.
  • Lewis grabbed a student watching nearby and asked, "What are they doing?"
  • "They're chasing after the campus beauty, Sacha," the student replied.
  • "Yeah! Didn't you see all the roses and candles on the ground?" the student pointed out to Lewis.
  • Following the direction indicated by the student's finger, Lewis saw a giant heart made of candles and roses, with a dozen or so students loudly shouting Sacha's name.
  • By now, the sky had darkened, and Lewis checked the time—it was already past 6 o'clock, dinner time. Downstairs, people had already lit the candles. The heart-shaped flames flickered faintly at night, adding a romantic touch to the scene.
  • "Sacha, I love you."
  • "Sacha, I'll love you forever."
  • "Sacha, I want to be with you."
  • A dozen boys simultaneously shouted downstairs, their voices echoing throughout the entire dormitory building.
  • Many onlookers were gathered here, and now, with these people's shouts, more and more eyes turned towards this spot. Even many girls upstairs leaned out of their windows to watch, some already taking out their phones to capture the scene.
  • A voice from the upstairs girls came, "I'm not Sacha."
  • Downstairs, someone heckled, "Then who are you?"
  • The girl burst into laughter, "I'm your mom."
  • Laughter erupted among the crowd, and even Lewis, standing nearby, couldn't help but smile. The university students were clearly delighted by the unexpected humour.
  • At that moment, a young woman descended the stairs. She made her way towards a heart-shaped arrangement illuminated by candles.
  • She was about 5′8″ tall, with jet-black hair tied up in a ponytail. Her face was like white jade, untouched by makeup, and she exuded a natural charm with her delicate eyebrows. Her slender nose and small mouth added to her allure, accentuated by her well-proportioned figure in a sky-blue tracksuit, giving her a sporty yet elegant look. Introducing today's star, Sacha Cox, age 22, a sporty beauty from Oakdale University's Business Administration Department. Sacha was renowned across campus as the belle, captivating hearts with her presence.
  • A tall young man in designer clothing, reasonably handsome, approached Sacha amidst a cluster of about a dozen students. Tenderly, he handed her a bouquet of bright roses and said, "These are for you, Sacha. I hope you'll be my girlfriend."
  • Dominic was far from just another student. He was well-connected, boasting acquaintances with numerous school leaders, and his lineage was nothing short of impressive. His father, Logan Belmont, held the esteemed position of Commander at the Kloria Garrison, while his mother, Ava Sinclair, was at the helm of a publicly traded company, securing their family's substantial wealth.
  • "Dominic, how many times do I have to tell you? Stop bothering me. I don't like your type, and please address me by my full name," Sacha said, frowning with irritation.
  • "Sacha, graduation is approaching. Haven't you found a job yet? My mom's company needs an assistant secretary. I can introduce you there," Dominic said, smiling warmly.
  • "I'm not interested in working for your family's company. Please stop assuming things," Sacha replied disdainfully, eyeing him coldly.
  • Just as Dominic Belmont persisted in pestering, Lewis stepped in, his expression icy. "She said she doesn't like you. Why keep bothering her? Learn some self-awareness."
  • Tall, handsome, and clad in designer clothes, Lewis's presence easily outshone Dominic. Many girls nearby couldn't help but admire him, some even mesmerised by his charisma.
  • Seeing their leader being lectured by a stranger, Dominic's cronies got agitated. They started shouting, "Who do you think you are? How dare you come to our school acting all high and mighty? You don't mess with Dominic. Get lost!"
  • Facing the provocation from a dozen students, Lewis slapped away the one who had just insulted him.
  • "Anyone else? If you feel like testing me, go ahead," Lewis said coldly, scanning the group.
  • "Do you know who my dad is? Or my mom? You dare lay a hand on my guys?!" Dominic arrogantly retorted.
  • Dominic boasted defiantly, watching as Lewis slapped away his lackey.
  • Smack!
  • Dominic, who had been slapped, fell right into the middle of the heart-shaped arrangement of candles and roses. Only a few candles on the sides stayed lit; the rest were crushed under him. He spat out a few bloody teeth, now truly scared. Growing up protected, he had never met anyone like Lewis. He was genuinely afraid now. Growing up protected, he had never met anyone like Lewis. Someone who didn't play by the rules, who would hit without hesitation and hit hard.
  • "I'm warning you, if you bother Sacha again, I'll finish you. Now get lost," Lewis warned sternly.
  • Lewis raised an eyebrow as he addressed Dominic and his gang.
  • The henchmen quickly helped Dominic and ran off, shouting threats as they fled, "Just you wait!"
  • Once the group had disappeared into the distance, Lewis approached Sacha and said, "I'm Lewis, a comrade of Manfred."
  • Hearing her brother's name, Sacha immediately felt relieved of her initial caution and happily replied, "I know you! My brother talks about you often."
  • Lewis glanced at the time and suggested to Sacha, "Let's go! Let's find a place to eat. We can sit down and talk."
  • Lewis escorted Sacha into the car. With a roar of the engine, they vanished from in front of the dormitory building.
