Chapter 11 A Romantic Confession

  • The headquarters of Saffron Group is a 30-story building. At such a young age, Winona had worked hard to build up such a successful company in just a few years, which was quite impressive.
  • When Lewis drove Winona to work in a Hummer in the morning, Winona didn't even ask what happened to the Porsche. Lewis's carefully prepared excuse turned out to be useless.
  • At 7:55 a.m., Lewis parked the Hummer in the Saffron Group's parking lot.
  • At 8:00 a.m., Winona walked into the company with Lewis.
  • "Good morning, Ms. Tate," greeted the receptionist with a sweet smile.
  • Mm! That girl has a charming smile, Lewis thought.
  • "Good morning, Ms. Tate," another woman greeted.
  • Mm! This one's got quite a figure, must be a 36D, he noted.
  • "Good morning, Ms. Tate," yet another greeted.
  • And this one looks so young! Lewis's mind raced.
  • D*mn, what's going on? Did I walk into the Women's Kingdom or something? Why are they all women? Lewis thought, looking around.
  • Lewis couldn't help but notice that everyone greeting Winona was a woman—curvy, sexy, petite—they all had great bodies and faces. He was getting flustered from the moment he stepped into Winona's company. His eyes couldn't stop roaming over the beautiful women around him.
  • "Have you never seen women before or what?" Winona asked coldly, noticing Lewis's ogling.
  • "Cough! Cough! Cough!"
  • Lewis cleared his throat and said thoughtfully, "As a qualified bodyguard, observing the surroundings and spotting suspicious individuals is essential. It's unavoidable."
  • "Yeah, right. You're just a big perv," Winona scoffed beside him.
  • "Darling, why didn't you let me come to work with you sooner? I had no idea your company was filled with female employees!"
  • Hearing Lewis's words, Winona was at a loss for how to respond. She even questioned whether she had lost her mind by bringing him to work. She just hoped he wouldn't cause any trouble.
  • "Stop calling me that. At the office, you need to call me Ms. Tate," she said coldly.
  • "Got it, Darling. Oh, I mean, Ms. Tate," Lewis replied with a straight face.
  • From the moment Winona walked Lewis into the company, people started whispering.
  • "Who's that guy? He's so handsome."
  • "Is he the new manager?"
  • "Maybe he's some rich heir?"
  • Winona just wanted to keep Lewis from idling at home, so she arranged for him to be her bodyguard. She didn't consider what effect bringing a man, especially one as flirtatious as Lewis, into the company might have.
  • Once they were in her office, Winona said, "Alright, have Ms. Wallace find you an office. Besides driving me to and from work, you don't need to do anything else."
  • Lewis walked to the office door and saw a beautiful woman in a black business suit with gold-rimmed glasses organising documents.
  • "Are you Ms. Wallace?" Lewis asked tentatively.
  • "You must be Ms. Tate's bodyguard, right? I'm Janet Wallace. Nice to meet you," Janet said, extending her hand.
  • Lewis shook her hand, noting how soft it felt. She was slim, with delicate features, and the glasses gave her a quiet, scholarly look. The name Janet seemed to suit her perfectly.
  • "Ms. Tate asked you to arrange an office for me. I'm her personal bodyguard," Lewis explained with a smile.
  • Lewis was extremely satisfied with his job at this Women's Kingdom-like company. He thought about how enjoyable being surrounded by different women would be daily.
  • Janet arranged an office for Lewis right next to Winona's. It had good lighting and was fully equipped with a desk, computer, fridge, air conditioner, and other office essentials. The room was a bit small though, only about 10 square meter.
  • Lewis was quite pleased. He thanked Janet, and she left with a smile.
  • Lewis ate in the cafeteria at lunch—a cheeseburger with fries and cola. The food was delicious.
  • In the afternoon, Lewis played games in his office until it started getting dark. Checking the time, he saw it was already 6 p.m., and it was time to leave.
  • Winona had more work to finish, so she told Lewis to wait downstairs.
  • By then, night had fallen. In front of Saffron Group's building, about ten men dressed in black were busy setting up a romantic display. They had created a heart-shaped pattern with lights in seven colours and a banner spelling out 'Winona, I Love You' in the same seven colours. Balloons were tied around the display, making everything float and adding to the romantic atmosphere.
  • A handsome man in a blue suit stood quietly before the setup, holding a bouquet of red roses. He was waiting for Winona.
  • When Winona appeared, the man approached her, flashing his unique smile. "Winona, I love you. Will you be my girlfriend?" he asked softly.
  • A romantic confession scene!
  • Many women in the company were talking excitedly.
  • "So romantic!"
  • "I wish that were me!"
  • "Just thinking about it makes me happy!"
  • Although Saffron Group wasn't as famous as some big companies, Winona was well-known in Kloria's high society. Her cold and regal demeanour attracted many young elites, and she had no shortage of suitors. Besides Jeffrey and Matthew, there was another heavyweight—Hansen Lowe, the only son of Blue Sky Group's president, Zach Lowe.
  • Hansen was six-foot-tall at the age of 26. He was a dashing PhD graduate who had returned from studying abroad. He was the current general manager of Blue Sky Group. Jeffrey, Matthew, and Hansen were known as the Three Princes of Kloria, the ideal partners for many women dreaming of marrying into wealth. However, all three were captivated by Winona's beauty.
  • At this moment, it was none other than Blue Sky Group's Hansen confessing his love to Winona.
  • The murmurs from the surrounding crowd occasionally reached Hansen's ears, boosting his confidence. He believed Winona would indeed accept his pursuit—after all, who could resist such a romantic gesture? His self-assuredness only added to his charm.
  • From a distance, Lewis watched the scene unfold with a calm expression. He had to admit, the romantic setup was impressive. However, he thought, if you're going to pursue someone, don't go after my wife. You can't blame me for what happens next.
  • With that thought, Lewis shut the car door, started the engine, and revved it loudly. Honking the horn, he drove straight towards the crowd.
  • People screamed and scattered. "Get out of the way! The car's coming!" they shouted.
  • The onlookers and the men holding balloons ran in all directions, creating chaos. The balloons swept the lights and banner into the air, drifting higher until they disappeared. Lewis executed a sharp drift, aiming the exhaust at Hansen. The increased throttle made the exhaust pipe spew black smoke, covering Hansen in soot and causing him to cough uncontrollably.
  • Once the scene was chaotic enough, Lewis got out of the car and said to Winona, "Ms. Tate, you have an important appointment. It's getting late, we should go, or we'll be late."
  • With Lewis's deliberate interference, Hansen's carefully planned romantic confession failed.
  • Watching the Hummer drive away, Hansen was furious. He turned to his men and ordered, "Find out who that guy is. I want to know everything about him. He needs to learn what happens when you cross me."
